Another EA Origin Ban

I agree that I act overly principled and I can see why people do give in because they do want to play the titles that EA offer. Not as many people would be as willing to forego great games (I do miss the opportunity of playing BF3 a lot) to make a stand but I wish more people would because whilst 99.9% object to the way EA act 99.9% will still get on with things and just put up with it and pray it is not them. If more people would step back and say "no" it would be reviewed unfortunately people just want an easy life (understandably) and won't do this.
but say everyone stopped buy any game that was origin only, would EA drop origin and go for some new way around it, or would they just say 'ah well, pc gaming is dead, lets pull support for pc, go console only, and sack the whole pc department'

What sort of ridiculously paranoid view is that?

If everyone stopped buying games that used Origin but continued to buy other games its kinda difficult to claim its dead. A scenario you described would be the equivalent of EA throwing its toys out the pram because it couldn't get its own way. I'm probably expecting a lot here but I'd think they have more business sense than that.

but surely banning everyone from accessing ALL games for cursing online, will result in them not being able to purchase games either? so they clearly lack business sense

Typical EA bureaucrats from the sounds of things.

I agree that it sounds a lot like the server admin was on a power trip or something :( hopefully you get it sorted soon.

Does anybody know if this sort of thing has happened on Steam?

Are you an idiot?

Since when is "swearing" childish? Have you played any online games? Because I don't think you have and if you did you're opinion would be different and not narrow-minded.

Then you're a pushover? So you take the blame for other people? Sums up who you are.

Anyone who plays on-line games no that the majority of admin are biased and power hungry. Admins on Battlefield 3 are sooner to ban someone for commenting they're a bad admin then to ban a legitimate cheater. The amount of times [HaX] group has been banned and kicked from servers for none other then genuine playing because the admin's behind was sore.

Administrator on servers need official processing by EA/DICE or an official governing body because the game is riled with pilocks with powers who ban because "you killed them" or "disagreed" with them. I was banned a week ago for saying the admin was a nonce for banning someone who used a M320 when a player with 100 - 0 was killing players with a SOFLAM. And the game was five minutes into the game. Before he was banned ten minutes later, the server emptied and he had to check his statistics before he was banned.

I feel for my friend, admins shouldn't have the power to ban you from the game let alone have an influence to loosing you're entire account. A ban from the server. THAT'S IT.

I completely agree with this. @Voorhees1979, have you any grasp of reality at all? Are you an idiot? How can you deem that his account be banned permanently for something an underage child did to an f'in Xbox game. Thousands of children do it a day, and they must use parents details for an account when under 18.

I'm sure he was more concerned about teaching his child real world morals such as the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse, not "Oh son, you can't hack games, that's the worst thing anyone can do ever"

It seems you haven't a grasp on children or how they act. You say if your son hacked once he would be banned from games for years? What kind of response is that to make to a child that has to learn from mistakes and his own mistakes at that? Everyone knows children rarely listen until it happens to them so why are you so miserable about the situation?

If you were to take the blame for something someone else did with something belonging to you then he's right, you're a complete push over. I really can't get a handle on your way of thinking you sound like a priest or worse.

Back to topic. I was playing with him if anyone is looking for evidence. He said - "WTF, they won't stop ****ing spawn raping us" then "I think there's ****ing hackers on here" and then "Is the admin even ****ing active"

How can (what seemed like) a robot admin ban someone from every Origin game, let alone that particular BF3 server or any others in general? How can they even ask you not to swear in an 18+ game that has constant swearing in it? I hate EA myself for quite a while but this along with other genuine persons that have problems like this is the icing on the cake.

Well I have 4 children thanks very much. None of them have had any of my accounts banned and they have axxs to all my stuff they also don't do drugs or drink alcohol ;) Regarding your "oh he was teaching his kids not to do drugs"

I didn't know that took every hour of every day, not sure how the kid found any time to cheat, they must really want to do those drugs if he can't spend 5 mins talking about something else.

Anyway you are entitled to whatever you think as am I.

i mentioned some of their comments puzzled me, but calling him an idiot and launching into a personal attack on him is just wrong.

that doesnt really sound like he was being abusive towards the admin or anyone else really. which makes the punishment more harsh.

Not wanting to jump in mid-conversation or anything but... cheating/hacking is something many would consider morally wrong, particularly in a competitive game. Ok so it's not quite alcohol/drug abuse but wouldn't you prefer to think you've taught them better than that?

Yeah some things in this thread are a little odd. One person compared this to a female driver killing someone, then the drink drugs issue. I mean you can't just teach kids the bad stuff and forget about the little things, you have to teach them right from wrong no matter how small or large the issue may be. But I do totally agree the BF3 thing is silly, but I stand by the fact I think his account is now flagged over the cheating so any little thing he gets reported for will come to the outcome he now has.

Anyway Witcher 1 with a few mods for me I think, have fun guys/gals.

There is still no logic in that. Being reported by a SERVER admin on BF3, a completely insignificant person, should not be related to anything but other acts of abuse against admins, and even then EA have absolutely no real right to actually ban you from BF3 for it, never mind Origin as a whole. Reminds me of a comedians routine I saw recently. Did 'Sticks and Stones', the rhyme you teach 8 year olds, suddenly become defunct after you turn 18 and you start getting offended about everything?

You're justifying his account and all his games which he spent his hard earned cash on being banned because a child wanted to try something? He already asked EA to keep his sons account banned to teach him a lesson but yet you still think his account should be withheld from him even though it had nothing to do with him personally and he has in no way done anything to deserve anything more than a kick from that server in particular.

Sorry for the personal attack but I can't grasp your mentality on the situation. We all know hacking is wrong but why should he scare the child into not wanting to play games in the future, just for something he did for the laugh and a bit of fun? Banning the child's account is more than enough he definitely should not suffer any consequences because of him.

Wait, you get banned from origin for abusing a server admin that has nothing to do with EA/Dice?

I dont think this can happen tbh, a server admin can ban you from THERE server but not from origin they have no control over that only EA can do that, im just checking for you with someone at PBBANS and will let you know.

As I said, it's either a screw up in reading the report by EA.. or the Admin has filed a cheat log of some sort. EA just can't pull their finger out, which is daft part.

It's not very meaningful but it's breach of contract. Even if they explicitly say so in their T&C a judge would not side with them. However it's not going anywhere near a court.

What might work is going to your credit card company, I nearly did it with Steam when they were really annoying me, I got my way in the end.

If the op didn't have his ban reversed, I'm sure he would have added BF3 to a BRAND NEW EA account, thereby making the original ban void anyway. So basically he's been banned for cussing in BF3, which to me is a bit harsh.
