Another Ebay Scam Avoidance Thread...

What's stopping someone taking ebay to small claims court, like matey said about his drone that was bought then broken and returned?
That's the risk you take with Ebay but I have found users with high feedback have been a pleasure to deal with and low feedback end up being a issue most of the time. Only ever had one return in nearly 20 years (low feedback user) so not bad I suppose.

I always read these horror threads after I've just sold a ton of items!!!!

I would assume that the terms and conditions that you agreed to when you created an eBay account protect them.

There's nothing stopping you from taking the buyer to court, problem is you wouldn't be able to prove it was the buyer who broke it unless they were stupid and admitted it.

Quoting for posterity

It really depends on the desirability of the items and who's likely to be the buyer expensive mobile phones fall into the high risk category selling your auntie Flo's old knick knacks not so much I've sold mostly low value items without incident in all the sales only had one chancer who had a history of trying to get cashback on postage charges claiming the postage was excessive, items with postage charges tend to be sold for lower prices to compensate so he was trying to have his cake and eat it.

I've had one person give me negative feedback because they didn't like the colour of the packaging !
I got a negative off a guy who bought an xbox game off me then messaged saying could he have it on Playstation instead. I said no and explained I wasn't a shop and that he had won the auction fairly and still had to pay. I appealed it to eBay and they removed it.

Unfortunately feedback is meaningless on ebay. As a seller you can't leave bad feedback. Was a huge backwards step

I mean that is ridiculous that the person even asked for this. I really can't stand people who doesn't read the advert than proceeds to ask the question when its already answered in the listing. Recently had a guy (low feedback) low ball me buy it now on a brand new drone and the price was less than the current auction bid!
