This alone is reason to avoid it.
 
Have never took pictures of serials etc before, but I have gone the "mark it somewhere with marker thats not noticable"..that way if some jerk sends back a different one, I'll know.

Guess the serial number method is more concrete though :P
 
You need proof the buyer has swapped the goods for PayPal to side with you, and that means photos. No good just writing down the serial numbers.
