Another excellent delivery by UPS

Seems like I’ve been cursed as just had this delivered from Matalan like 5 mins ago.

how anyone at there warehouse thought it was ok to post porcelain bowls in a plastic bag with a bit of bubble wrap. Hermes

Yeah seems a bit fake to to me. Or something intentional. Also the packing is really flimsy, looks like they put it into a soft cardboard box with a bit of bubble wrap! Why was it not shipping in the original box for the case.

Packaging looks totally inadequate.

If you ship anything delicate or valuable, assume its going to get kicked around the delivery hubs, thrown into the back of vans, dropped onto conveyor belts etc. The box that the case comes in is a good start with the protective foam etc, but you also need to pack the inside out to ensure the GPU can't move, cooler can't move if its a heavy cooler etc. Put that box inside another box with padding.

Don't forget insurance.

especially if the system is watercooled.. regardless if the loop was empty or not, i'd expect the rig to be in a wooden container on a pallet (like what they use for servers) let alone a thin cardboard box with less than sufficient wrapping

Looks like they’ve shipped it in a soft brown box with little packaging. Cases normally get shipped out in the hard outer shell cardboard boxes with a good few inches of foam.

still no excuse as that looks to have gone to hell and back

Yup that is a Fractal Define 7 XL I believe. The inside of the box has that funky pattern that makes your eyes go wonky. So it looks like they have shipped it in the original box unless that pic is just of the Fractal box that goes into a bigger box but that would limit the damage.. That case is pretty heavy and with all the parts you are looking at about 25KG+. That I believe has been dropped from easily 6-10 foot for it to cause that sort of damage.

Highly skeptical this is legit tbh. Yes I'm sure stuff gets thrown around and there are a few rogue individuals who set out to cause damage but this is not really believable.

This, I could understand components being dislodged and thrown around inside, and some crushing etc. to the case itself, it was dropped or had something heavy* stacked on top of it, but that looks like it's been attacked with a sledgehammer or angle grinder! The rear panel at the top of the picture has been completely torn off the top/motherboard tray. Either deliberate or weakest case construction ever!

* Heavy = a realistic weight you'd stack on top of a pallet, obviously driving a tank over it or ramming it with a 200,000 ton container ship would be a different story.

You're assuming that's the packaging it started out in, and not what UPS dumped it into after mincing it.

So much this.

Most/all couriers from RM up will "repackage" items that have had their original packaging damaged/destroyed in transit.

By the looks of it that must have had a heavy pallet dropped on it, or been rammed by a forklift and put in a "suitable" box to get it to the destination. I've seen more than one picture of a pallet of PC cases with a nice pair of holes going through them...
