Another poorly optimised Ubisoft port?

The game looks terrible tbh, they totally ruined the great looking combat AC was once known for.

But yea, Ubisoft just don't know how to make good games any more...

Oddly I disagree. The franchise got stale and this is like a soft reboot the game needed. The gameplay here is fantastic. The graphical performance on the other hand...

This latest game is considered one of the better Assassins Creed games. Lets be honest, for 90% of enemies of the earlier games you could just counter everyone which made it very easy.

It's just a generic, RPG-esque style hack and slash game now though. Which is totally the opposite to what it started as.

I'd say the stealth in the last game was better than a lot of the early games though.

Anyway, 'Origins' ended with the Assassins being set up. As Odyssey is set before then, I can't see how it will link in....

This is why i end up playing the assassins creed games around 5-6 years after release. They are all great games but should be experienced maxed out and the only way to do that is by playing them way after they have been released.

This new Assassins Creed game is awful. Yet another open-world RPG? Getting bored of these imho so no big loss. meh

The last one was in no way an RPG sadly as the world was beautiful. And this looks like more of the same. But that's some horrible performance for nv's latest & greatest all things considered.

If you look at Digital Foundrys review of the 2080/Ti they tested Assassins Creed: Unity
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2018-9-19-geforce-rtx-2080-2080-ti-review?page=3

That's a 4 year old Ubisoft game that's only just getting 60fps at 4k!

So AC: Odyssey should get 4k/60 in about 2 more generations of GPU :D

So the 2080 does admirably in keeping up with the 1080ti and the 2080ti adds 30% to this.

This is completely messed up. The 2080 should be where the 2080ti is and the 2080ti should destroy the 1080ti

Just remember how much more expensive these cards are this time!

Origins now after the latest patch runs how it should have at launch performance wise. I didn't bother playing it much until recently. Tried reducing shadows a notch as its a pretty big hit normally with very little difference visually?

They need more diversity! Focus on the diversity/positive discrimination and everything else with sort itself out..

This is a joke for all the people that can't tell the difference.. But Ubisoft has now been taken over by the SJW/diversity/positive discrimination crowd and they are pushing diversity at all costs. Gone are the days of best person for the job!

Same with EA, who also now only make crap.

The person they hired to do the facial animations in ME:A was some feminist from social media, with no qualifications in animation. The development was basically hijacked by SJWs and we all saw how that turned out.

Fortunately, Bioware shut that studio down after that mess.

You are the ones infesting this thread about a games performance (or lack of it) with your BS, not "SJW/diversity/positive discrimination"

Literally what has that got to do with the thread?

Everything... Now the focus of Ubisoft is not to create the best games that they can, the management has been infested with the SJW/diversity/positive discrimination crowd under the mantra of 'Diversity is good, the more diversity the better' - I'm paraphrasing but that's the jist of it.

I don't care about diversity as such, but when you use that WITH positive discrimination that's when I have an issue with it - the company is destined for the scrap heap. 'Get woke, go broke' is a very good saying, it'll take years but they will fade away. I was happy with a meritocracy, which means the best person for the job, be it man/woman/trans/gay/bi/white/black/asian/whatever I don't care.. But when you include not only diversity, which in itself is discrimination against the majority for a(n) minority, AND positive discrimination - it's really sickening.

But now it's not a level playing field. I can compete with anyone with a level playing field, if I lose then so be it - I'll have to try harder and do better next time. But with diversity no matter what I do I cannot 'win' if a company I'm interviewing is looking to diversify it's work force for arbitary things like: skin colour, sexual orientation, religion - things that shouldn't matter and don't matter to normal people..

And why it's relevant is that Ubisoft no longer the Ubisoft that you and I remember. We'll see if they care or not, but we'll see soon. I don't think complaining will do anything, their focus is elsewhere.

We can hope that eventually a new CEO comes in and replaces them all with people who know how to make a good game. It will happen if sales start to decline (and they will decline if the games suck). The people demanding this crap in games don't actually buy them.
