I wouldn't touch WHS, there's still the data corruption bug.
Whilst this is true, the original post calls for storage of DVD rips, which is absolutely not affected by the so called 'data corruption bug'.
It is easy to take these type of things out of context, Windows 98, Me, 2000 and XP still contain bugs and that is after they are 'life expired' that can corrupt data, let alone the multitude of viruses that they are susceptable to.
The WHS server bug relates to a very unlikely set of circumstances all happening at the same time, for example excel document open on twop machine, both trying to save at the same time, whilst the WHS is migrating between hard drives.
Again you are correct that it contains this bug, but it would absolutely not affect the descibe usage in this thread, and is nothing to the frustration that DavidS14 will go through if he encounters a crashed raid array, or needs to increase storage capacity, where you have the option to back up all of your data to an external source, which is expensive with 3TB or sit with your fingers crossed for three days whilst a raid card rebuilds an array with an extra drive.
I would definately read up on Windows Home Server before making your mind up, look at some of the other benefits you gain also from automated backup of all your other PC/laptops, external webpage hosting, remote access of any PC via secure web access, Windows media connect server etc. At the end of the day, there is nothing stopping you using a raid card in WHS either.
The case that you are looking at is something that I have been looking for for ages, and now that I have invested in a massive Lian-Li case with 12 internal trays, this case appears. Just my luck!
Best of luck with your build.
