Well that's blatantly not true.

Edit: or is my sarcasm detector broken?

I've heard it claimed - its one of those stories thats 'Too good not to be true'. See also:

Winterval
Banning Hot Cross Buns
Banks banning Piggy Banks

Papers print it because they know that moronic people are pre-disposed to beleive 'facts' that back up their pre-conceived opinions.

So your average knuckle dragging mail reader, on reading that Christmas has apparently been renamed 'Winterval', simply shakes his/her head, tuts disgustedly, and repeats the story in the pub later on. No-one bothers to look any deeper because, well, its the sort of thing that always happens, so it *must* be true.

Eventually you end up with a modern mythology that becomes so ingrained in the popular consciousness that new allegations are treated as supporting earler ones that time has transformed into Holy Writ.

Ah now I get ya.

I'd like to know as well. Probably the PC Liberal Elite, I would imagine.

A strange group. Treated with disdain, yet people seem to think that what they say is automatically binding.

No, no, no, it's not Winterval! Last years politically correct winter seasonal greeting holds the truth:

"Happy non-discriminatory winter gift festival!"

Doesn't it just roll off the tongue!

:D

Oooh laden with more insults to anyone who doesn't wring their limpwristed hands in anguish whilst sipping on their fairtrade chardonnay to the guardians latest heart bleeding account of how poor black muggers are not to blame for their actions because they had a bad childhood.

Last time you came out with this garbage you were shown various true stories and BBC reported facts about a variety of muslims complaining about a range of things from bank workers having toy PIGS on display to the burger king swirl looking too much like Allah.

Still you post these off the cuff dismissals because you think that the average middle class, bleeding heart, pseudo intellectual university teenager is going to be suckered in by your facts and eventually it will enter popular mythology that no muslims ever complain about toy pigs, BK swirls or hot cross buns. And all because moronic people are pre disposed to believing the Guardian.

I'm flabbergasted that one of our oldest members is coming out with the crap above.
So the name Codie and wearing a school uniform with looped earrings makes her not an angel? Unbelievable.
Oh, and the term 'blacks' is actually the proper politically correct name for such people so it looks like you are the 'racist' if you use other words.

It may turn out that she is no angel but classing a person by her photo and name is just childish.

It would seem that I'm upsetting a few people recently by telling it as I see it.

I'm sorry if you think it's crap dmpool but I'd put a lot of money on my assessment of her by that photo; I think that many others feel in a similar way too.

Except for the truly holy among us, we all make assumptions about our fellow man via their appearance; sometimes we are wrong but in my personal experience, I would say that my initial assesments over the years have been accurate by well over 90%.

All the esoteric, pious and articulate arguments put forward will not change my mind; only meeting the young lady in question "might" do that, though I doubt it.

Sorry if it offends but thats the way I see this one I'm afraid.

Havent read the entire thread.

I feel bad for the girl. She is there to learn and has to work with a group of students who do not speak english. It is very rude to be in a group and speak a language to each other that not all others can understand. The girl probably felt alone and left out of the group.

I cant even imagine why the teacher thought it would be a good idea to place an english only speaking student in a group of foreign speaking students. How exactly is that a good combination.

The schools response is totally over the mark and I hope that any legal action brought on the school or police is successful.

lol all she said was " i dont want to sit with them because i dont understand them" lol whats the point to discuss something if they cant speak english.

I'm just wondering, if they couldn't understand english how on earth were they to understand what the teacher was saying!!
Unless the teacher spoke two languages but would they repeat every sentence in two languages, I think this is a major over reaction on the schools part. I know quite a few asians, some are fine and some aren't(as you get with any race, colour , creed, whatever you wanna call it)Sometimes they speak their own language when they want to say something they don't want you to hear, maybe calling you names etc.

The girl who was bi lingual was being used as a translator for the new arrivals to the country. I'm sure that being used in this way would have a negative effect on her own education. Mind you given the schools results would it really matter.

I think one of the students spoke some english so that student was basically translating back and forth.

Thinking about it that is a very aweful way of teaching the students. How is the translater supposed to learn when he or she has to go back and forth all the time and how are the other foreign sudents supposed to learn when they have to wait for a translation each time they have a question or need help.

There are schools in this country where there are 43 different first languages.
Education, education, education - that was one of Tony Blairs warcries on the election campaign but one of the side effects of our approach to immigration is to seriously hamper the education system via language difficulties.

I had a trawl through that link and couldn't find anything to show that she was a racist.
I did wonder why Visage was able to find her page though...... maybe he's a client?
