Another 'Sky Engineer' scammer

A clown with a knife came to my door today offering to make me a cake. Then a police van turned up. The police approached the clown, who turned to them, and

Could be worse. Last time I had an actual sky 'engineer' visit was to install a hd box, he looked filthy and like he'd slept in the woods the night before, seemed drunk and the first thing he said was "morning, I'm from sky, can I use your *******" I already had sky+ and had removed the old box, after coming out of the toilet he saw the twin coax ready to go and said **** me, there is a god.

I told him to just leave the box, I'd do it and get sky to pair my card myself. Its not hard to force the box to update and you can pair a card online.

It was quite funny, I would have been convinced he was hammered if it wasn't for the fact he didn't smell of booze at all.

If I wasn't so keen to get the HD box off him I would have declined his asking, how dare he request so rudely to poo in another mans kingdom :D
 
OP is not delivering. OP is bad and should feel bad. In the mean time... if a Sky engineer falls off a ladder and no one is around to hear it, does it make a noise?
 
Sky will often use random contractors in the areas where they don't have franchised installers, especially in the areas where satellite fitter is more likely to point dishes at Polsat or arabic channels than Murdoch's finest.

Surely they have some sort of ID system going on though?
 
Like a photo ID issued by the British Union of Professional Ladder Erectors (BUPLE for short) or official Certified Concentric Cable Professional (CCCP for short) badge issued by Union of Satellite Spotters and Researchers (known in trade as USSR) or something?

The story in original post should only be told in two possible ways

I called Sky to install me a dish and the next morning they sent two foreigners in unmarked van and no paperwork.
I never called Sky to install anything and this morning two foreign men with enough wire to tie down my entire family knocked on my door pretending to be Sky installers.

/edit - And it pains me to say it but I'm in agreement with Dimps in that I have no idea what the scam is.
