another sky rant

/me pats Virgin Media box lovingly.

Seriously, the Internet-on-DVD Volume 2 is full of complaints about Sky and Sky boradband (the other half are maoning about the lack of Sky One on Cable!)

I'd find out who you need to write to. It is always better to have a name, then you can chase them up.

My parents have had problems with Sky but strangely I have never had any problems with NTL and no they are Virgin Media things seem to have improved. Your not in a cable area are you? 10mb cable broadband is a hoot...hell the 2mb in the 3 for £30 is damn fast.

Virgin Large will be 20Mbps as from begining of May :)

Who said that?

I'm on the large package and I haven't recieved any notification at all from Virgin about it. It's also not on their website.

It's being trailled in certain areas. A work friend of mine has been told by Virgin that it will be rolled out as a trial this year...

At what point did I suggest anything of that nature? By all means chase them up on their mistakes. Provided you have everything in writing, records of the phone calls made and you are confident you are in the right, go for it. Go at them all guns blazing with nasty letters if you want, but what do you expect if you decide to take to an online message board instead and waste your time ranting about one or two understandable mistakes they have made?

What do you mean what do you expect? ranting is about venting its an emotional response gettit?

I dont call unsolicited theft an understandable mistake. If they were truly concerned they would refund me not only the money but also the interest and also a letter of apology all without me having to ask for it back. (the money taken is over a period of 3 1/2 months = about £70 in total) You see theres the rub.... sky didnt notice this error themselves they were continuing to quite happily defraud my account that to me points to a bit more than " a few understandable mistakes". Seems to me they need to sort out their billing system if it can let errors like this go on for months on end no?

If i didnt call them on it would they have continued to take the money? You bet they would. Negligent on their part most assuredly.

If being overcharged slightly or being billed in advance is going to mean you can't eat for the next few weeks, I think you need to sort your priorities out...

Its the principle of the thing :p The point is all we want is equitable service. If i dont pay for a service/product then i expect the weight of the law to come down upon me. Correspondingly the same should be true of companies syphoning monies from customers through either incompetence or negligence.

Well can you point me to where it's been announced? :)

Or is it another upgrade rumour? "My mate had a technician around who said it was true and my Dad's colleague's step-brother's dog said he overheard it on the radio but can't remember which station or show." :p

I've been with Telewest for 6 years and I've heard tons of upgrade rumours and stories, but the two that actually occured were announced by Telewest themselves in the form of a letter and on their website. :)

how do you get HBO on demand?

I kind of stumbled across it. If you goto TV Choice on demand > All channels A-Z it's there

I can recommend From the Earth to the Moon. Absolutley fabulous if that's your bag
