Anova Precision Cooker - cook sous vide with your iPhone.

Might have to pick one up! Am I right into thinking you could just throw in the vacuum packed frozen meat or fish fillets from the supermarket straight into the pot?
Provided you'd defrosted them first, yes - you'd encounter all sorts of problems cooking straight from frozen.

Personally, and I think others would be the same, I'd want to vac-pack them myself so I could be sure of what I was putting in and have the option to add seasoning, herbs, oils, etc.

But it's certainly feasible, if you wanted to go down that route.

Sorry, forgot you're an American-resident! Yes, they both have fantastic pre-packed meats you could use straight in the water bath - Trader Joe's especially.

The adoption of this style of cooking is much more widespread on your side of the Atlantic. As an example, I'm pretty sure either TJ or WF are about to start stocking the Sansaire.

I received this email just now:

At 7:00AM CST, Amazon will be featuring the Anova One as their "Gold Box Deal." For four hours only, people will get a chance to buy the best sous vide machine in the world for $60 off the purchase price. Here are the deets:
The sale begins at 7:00AM CST for "Amazon Prime" members
The sale begins at 7:30AM CST for regular Amazon customers
The sale will end at 11:00AM CST
Did we mention the Anova One is on sale for $60 off the regular purchase price?

It might be Amazon.com only but if not... pretty good deal for people.

edit: This was on Thursday.

Just had a look and by the time you've paid for a suitable 110v transformer, it's probably cheaper to buy the UK version. With customs fees etc I think the Sansaire works out cheaper for us unfortunately.

That's a shame. I'm quite happy with the $129 I paid for mine, though I do wish I'd not been so indecisive as I missed out on the $99 tier by about a minute :/

What the date for the sale?I;m state side with prime so might pick one up for $60

Note, it's $60 off the normal price, not just a price of $60!

If they were selling for $60 I'd be picking up as many as my overdraft and credit card would allow before selling them on for profit :p

Yup. I was just about to post the update. Rather annoying :/ Though I do already have a (less good) sousvide so I can live without it I guess.

I don't think we're likely to get them by Christmas - I read it as January.

Those who ordered 220v Precision Cookers: Production of the 220v Precision Cookers was just not going fast enough, so we’ve undergone a retooling process to optimize our production process. We anticipate fulfillment of these orders the first week in January 2015, and delivery shortly thereafter.

We will be fulfilling all delayed units to our Kickstarter backers first. We anticipate having a batch of about 1,000 220v units (about 1/3 of their total order) fulfilled later this month in advance of the upcoming January fulfillment date; and moving forward, our Kickstarter units will be fulfilled before all others. These are not orders from Amazon, or anywhere else. These are orders that came from Kickstarter backers first, and then pre-orders - only from anovaculinary.com.

This is not the rollout we had anticipated, especially given the incredible support we have received from our community. However we hope that you can forgive the delayed delivery of some of your hardware. Our goal was to create the world best Sous Vide device for the home chef and professional chef alike - and we know that the Precision Cooker is just that.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, and please feel free to contact us at [email protected] with any questions.

Team Anova

was looking to get a sius vide of some sort for my brother for Xmas, what is available in UK now that works well at a decent price ?

There is the anova mk1, sansaire, Nomiku (http://www.seriouseats.com/2013/12/sous-vide-circulator-review-sansaire-nomiku-anova.html)

Or the more expensive, more worktop cluttering full units like the sous vide supreme.

You should be able to order and get the Anova by Xmas though, I'd have hoped. (although who knows at the moment). At the $129 I paid, it's a bargain.

I also have the sansaire though, which is good (I need to use it more tbh).
