Ansel Adams

I think the achievements of Ansel Adams are more impressive when you remember he wasn't using digital, and didn't have an instant preview available to see if his exposures etc were spot on!

He did take some amazingly evocative images in my opinion, and his work would have had much more of an impact on the population of the day due to far flung travel being the preserve of the wealthy. People did used to clamour to see pictures of foreign lands and I'm not surprised he and his work are still held in high esteem today.

I'm tempted to create a 'your favorite photographer' thread now actually, he'd be right up there for me along with a few others. Be interesting for people to post work which inspires them though if they have other tastes...

Allways like Ansel Adams' work.
Used to have a screen saver many many many moons ago that was just his Yosemite pics. Could sit and watch em for hours.

As for style, my boss has introduced me to Glen Denny. Just love these pics. Captures the early big wall scene wonderfully.

I'll be honest in saying that I don't really know a great deal about 'famous' photographers, despite learning about a number of them at college (I studied Graphic Design but part of that was photography).

Having looked at some of Ansel Adam's work, I do like him.

However most of my favourite photographers are modern day digital photographers such as Joey L
