Recently moved into a ground floor flat a few weeks ago and all has been good, but this morning I woke up to see loads of ants crawling around the carpet. I had a look round and can see where they are all coming seems to be a whole between the skirting board and the carpet I tried blocking it with toilet roll and it did seem to stop them for a couple of hours but now when I've come to bed they is loads of them again!

Now what is the best way to get rid of them the place us tidy with no food lying about, is it worth tellin the landlord? Cheers

Get ant powder or like others have suggested, get the landlord involved. At the end of the day you are paying him to maintane the place. Might as well use him.

Ant-ibacterial wipes.

I remember as a kid my nan had an ant issue they were all over the kitchen work surface and wall and stuff it was "m-ant-al."

As heard on the Simon Mayo show, the best way to get rid of Ants is to put down a saucer of white wine and a trail of sugar leading into the saucer. The ants will climb in, get drunk and die, first the initial scout, then the rest of the scouting party. After a couple of days you'll find no fresh ants dead in the wine and they will never return.

Well the mrs has come in with a bottle of ant spray cos the powder says not to use on carpet, we have sprayed the gaps like it says on the bottle and it has worked for now but if they come back we will get on to the landlord.

This is Cool I Love waring with Ants.
What you have to do is build a perimeter wall of Salt, Get the Doris to buy some bulk salt & just pour it around the skirting or work surface to create a wall.
Ants do not like Salt & this method works & is fun.

I have ants in my office crawling about on my desk. What attracts them?
The crumbs in your keyboard.

They are exploring at the moment. As soon as one discovers a food source it will notify the nest and there will be a hundreds of them.

I love watching the neat roads they create using scent.

I dropped a glass of coke and didn't clean it properly and came back to ants everywhere!

Powder works but it'll remain visible around your skirting board for a while. The spray works just as good.

Well there is still no sign of anymore ants so fingers crossed. Is it best to continue spraying it on a regular basis or will the once be enough?
