Antec P180 Owners Thread

I installed my K8N Neo2 last night, Seasonic psu, cable length is fine.

Sadly, my lower HDD cage has somehow gotten jammed and I can't get it out

Odd, can't see how you could get it jammed. Out of interest did you get the 120mm Globe Fans from the UK?

I did indeed just over a year ago, but the only uk stockist that had em doesn't stock em any more

Good call, I couldn't source those back then, I would gladly have bought em, but no point now as the Globes are only slightly noisier

Heavy Beast

Im just about to order one of these babies, and a seasonic S12 PSU (which i know fits in the case well)

But im told on Antec's site that its 14.1kg?!!.. that's a heavy beast! - the P160 is a masively lighter 6.5kg.... where's all this extra weight come from?...

So the question to you existing owners is: do you find a problem with portability / moveability etc??

PS. i'll show pics once mine arrives and is installed.

Mine jammed after I installed my HDDs in it. I think it was one of them that was causing the problem though I can't remember ATM how (too tired) but it was.

Obviously this depends on whether you have actually installed any HDDs in there

Mind did that when I put another HDD in mine. I put a HDD out of my mediabox to transfer some data across and as the HDD was too long it kept catching on the case somehow.

So in order to get it out, I had to pull the drive back a little, then I could take the cage out

Thanks guys, I will try this out when I get home, just seems silly that I have my 200G stuck along with my faulty 160G I need to RMA in the case, and my 80G and 160G (which have all my data/games/etc) are sitting outside with no way of getting in.

I can't even play WoW

Weight?

As per post #268, does anyone have portability issues with the P180 as its a heavy beastie?.. i want to order one, but not sure about its grand weight.

With my setup inside it it's fairly heavy, much heavier than my old CM201 setup.

I've already taken it to two min-Lans and carrying it about was a little annoying due to the weight. I wouldn't want to be moving it around all the time.

Oh, someone above mentioned the power extensions for the normal and 4pin psu cable. Are these available on OCuk now?

Can't see them anywhere but there was some mention that they had them?

Too heavy to move around on anything other than the most occaisional basis. If you want a portable case look for an alternative, I wouldn't reccomend the P180.

Woot, harddrive cage sorted, you guys were right

Also think I have solved my random freezing job, I think it was my NB overheating, I unplugged the fan hoping it would be fine, but noticed it was boiling after my last freeze.

I cant stick a passive on it coz it gets in the way of my arctic cooler

Plugged the fan back in and it seems good so far

Did you find the Akasa noisy ?
I am thinking of moving back to mine but changed my mind when I saw what a job it would be taking everything out of the p180. The only real problem I have is the left door vibrates somtimes and has a couple of scratches. Might swap the left and right around.

I have just ordered a P180, along with an Mx1000 , Zalman S7700 and AS5. Hopefully should get it tomorrow and I will be able to see how good a clocker my SD3700 really is with decent cooling.

Didnt bother with the power extensions as I think in the next few weeks I will be moving my Tagan over to my PVR machine and getting a modular hiper unit for my P180

Will post pics and stuff when I have done it all- hopefully Saturday or Sunday
