I wear the nylon/textile gear because its waterproof and there is less faffing about with getting it cleaned,just bung em in the washer on a cool setting and thats it.As for helmets yeah try as many different ones on as possible i cant wear shoei or arai i have had Vemar and the one i am using at the moment is an FM which is really comfy superb build quality and reasonably priced at £190.
