Any DrayTek Vigor 2860/N-Plus owners?

I've got mine arriving today. Just wondering if there's any owners on here who could share any hints/tips? Quite looking forward to having a play, I've wanted one for a fair while.
 
I have the 2860Vac, quite an impressive feature set although I've encountered two bugs.

1) The VDSL2 connection seems to have an INP of 1.5 and a delay of 8ms on the downstream and the router's causing that (no idea why)
2) The UPnP option, when enabled with connection control, causes the router to regularly crash with my multiple public static IPv4 address allocation
 
Use the vector 2 modem code, it's better for just about everything, I'm on adsl2+ and it's better

On 5GHz, don't pick channels 120, 124 or 128, unless you want to wait 10 minutes for it to do dfs checking.

ixel: the connection control bit of upnp should be unnecessary though? best to just turn on upnp and leave that option disabled. Also vector 2 modem code might help with your first problem.
 
If the firewall is on, the internet is sluggish and hardly loads. What do people set theirs to? And what MTU size should I use?

Thanks. Tried just enabling UPnP on its own but unfortunately it crashed (reboot cycle), though it took longer to crash. The only thing so far that's effected by having UPnP disabled is GTA V Online (PC), when quick restarting a mission it will timeout.

Regarding the modem code, I am using vector 2 unfortunately. Could my firmware perhaps need reinstalling from scratch with a factory reset?

turn off hardware acceleration, it causes some people a lot of issues at the moment, it's set to Auto by default

changing the modem code shouldn't require a factory reset or anything

Done the firmware upgrade. Are you positive it's hardware acceleration? As when I turn off the firewall everything is perfect. Also read about MTU tuning.
 
I also turned off hardware NAT acceleration virtually since day one as I read some issues about it on another forum somewhere.

Regarding my crashes, I have discovered an interesting command which might be pointing me in the direction of the cause:

IPv6 maybe? I am using IPv6, so perhaps I should try disabling it and seeing what happens from then on. I still have no idea regarding the INP/delay anomaly I have, but I might try factory resetting and setting everything up again.
 
I've owned a 2860n for over 18 months, using it with PlusNet. Regardless of firmware version noticed no performance issues with firewall.

I'm using 3.7.8.3 Vector 2 firmware.

I don't use hardware acceleration as it disabled QOS rules and I have QOS rules setup.

Always used MTU of 1492.
 
It's definitely the Firewall for me. Whenever any of these are enabled it's like being on dial up.

I really liked ours but due to being on a really poor line and the Drayteks err'ing on the side of stability on the line speeds had to replace it with a Billion so I could tweak the SNR to give us a hefty percentage increase in speed.

Did see with one of the updates they introduced a feature to modify the SNR but didn't seem to actually work or do anything so back to the Billion for now :(
 
S2KIP, do you have any custom rules in your firewall filter setup?

The only ones I have are the default xNetBios -> DNS rules for voice and data.

The firewall page you posted is what I have, other then firewall voice and data enabled.
 
No rules at all. All I've done is configured wireless and WAN, everything else is as it came out of the box.

My DOS defense has always been off. I mentioned it before in case it was on and causing a slow down in the firewall.

I did a quick google on Draytek firewalls slowing internet, there is a few posts about it but nothing conclusive to what causes it.

When firewall is on what is the routers CPU usage status? Is it running under high load.

No, everything looks normal. I might get wireshark on the go to see what's actually happening. It's almost like there's an MTU issue but that's always been left unchanged. I've put a post on the Draytek forum so I'll see if I get a reply, if not I'll log a support ticket.
