Nah,I know who the OP is and he won't want a retro car lol.

Quite right I prefer "The boring cars any day"

And as some of you have said I only want the car for a couple of years. Just long enough to get NCD so I can afford named driver on dads GTO.

Couple of mates got the PUNTO most MK1 but i'll test drive the MK2 before purchase see what I think of it myself.

NCB makes zero difference to the cost of being a named driver.

Maybe not but Direct Line wont insure me as a named driver. I've tried.

Not until i have atleast 1 Year NCD

its how long youve held your license for, not your NCB for named driver :)

Tom.

18 year old kid driving a 300bhp mitsi, how long does your dad plan on keeping his gto :D
anyway good look finding your 1st car.

Have you tried Quinn-Direct for quotes? They seem to be very cheap.

I've also found that Zetec S quotes are very, very reasonable for the specs of the car, around £400 cheaper than a saxo VTR when I'va made quotes.

I'd go for the Zetec S if you can :p

Yeah for a reason, DO NOT GO with this company. I am with them and stuck with them for another 11 months. The worst customer service ever, had to ring them approx 40 times just to ensure they had recieved my no claims despite them promising to ring me back every time. Also want to change car when you are already with them? No chance.

Stay clear, hate to think what they will be like if I have a crash :(

He lives in the same area as me, so no prices less than £2500 on the Zetec S.

You go for your punto, but don't come cryin to me when it's conked out on ya!!! :D

Oh btw your were right about the £850 one!!

A Punto is a cracking litle first car. Don't listen to the "it will break down all the time" brigade. Most haven't even driven or sat in them let alone owned one.

Fiats used to be unreliable rust buckets but many things have changed over the years. Their build quality varies but should be apparent on a used car purchase. Above all the offer seriously good value for money.

O RLY? My brother has one as his first car (51 plate), and its a crock of ****! Has overheated numerous times, and just generally rattles, squeaks and bits fall off it. Its only dont 20 odd thousand miles also!

They are dire.

I agree, i have a '99 Punto and think its v nice to drive, much nicer than my mams Lupo Sport.

Admittedly the vw is much much better quality tho.

Oh and the head gasket went last month. 'Fix It Again Tommorow'! other than that its fine.
