any ideas?

ok so no windows installed?
it sounds like its shorting out to me, usually caused by standoffs or cpu backplate

do you manage to get into bios ever? you know your bios key right?

Well not quite I have just put all the new components together but have not managed to install the OS system as i cant get passed the bios when I try click anything nothing happens then i get into a black page with a blinking cursor.

Sorry, I'll try to sum up everything.

I just built this pc and I've yet to install windows on it. I've made all the connections and then on booting I've received this problem. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting individual parts but none of it seems to affect the boot.

On boot the pc runs and the fans run but then stop. The computer then reattempts to boot 3 or so more times before it actually succeeds. This is when I can see the bios screen and that's where I'm stuck.

Check your ram settings in the Bios are the same as written on your sticks, including the voltage.
If your ram supports XMP, go into Bios and select that option, this will automaticlly set up your ram.

I can get into the page saying press this key for for an option but nothing happens as it will not let me access my keyboard yet. I've tried using the PS2 keyboard which didn't make a difference, it then brings up the gigabyte logo where i can't use the options available then i get into a black screen with a blinking cursor

im just checking you are pressing the del key and not backspace or something
you are getting the flashing cursor because you havent got into bios to setup the boot drive etc

unless something else you not telling us, sounds like the keyboard is just not working

If the Cmos reset does`nt work, Put your OS disc(disconnect hdd if installing on ssd) in and restart your PC. It should load up automatically.
