I have the maximus VIII Impact and am currently looking at the Trident Z as my main option for ram. The question is 16gb or 32gb?

Just for gaming really

Thanks

Chili

I only have 8gb and even then everything has been pretty solid. There might be some cases where 16gb can benefit you but going 32gb is just a waste.

16 GB is good, great
32 GB is Luxury.

People loves luxury. I would not say 32 GB is a waste.

I have never gone above 16GB or even got close to it whilst gaming or photo-editing or doing both just to see how much RAM I could eat up. Have you?

32GB is a waste currently.

Will 1600 Mhz DDR3 be available for years to come or should I buy some now? (sorry to hijack the thread)

It'll go up in price now production has dropped off. It's pretty cheap now (although has been even cheaper) so I'd get all you need ASAP.

Get it now like Minstadave said, it will go up and also it will get harder to match your ram. Though it’s not essential, it is better to try and get the same make /version of ram you already have.

I have just looked at the 32GB (16x2) of DDR4 I bought about 5 months ago and it’s gone up £40!!

Brexit? :D

On a serious note ddr4 is overpriced, think I'll go with the 3200 trident Z from a local supplier over the pond here in Finland

16GB High speed ram is what i'd go for.

I have done this, I sent £165 on 16GB of team group 3733mhz ddr4 ram and for gaming and normal pc stuff I couldn't tell the difference. In the end I sold it for a massive loss after 3 months (£80) and went with 32GB of 2400mhz, overclocked it to 2858mhz and I can't tell the difference.

Got weird mismatched kits not sure if to buy some 2x8Gb 2400mhz instead of running on with my old 1600mhz. Wonder if I'd fry it with 1.8v, it wouldn't bother me as long as the IMC didn't go with it :D

Bad idea to buy DDR3 - it's outdated and obsolete. No current Intel CPU will work with regular DDR3.

The OP wants to know whether to get more RAM for his existing DDR3 system now or wait in the hope it would stay available at a reasonable price. He could buy DDR4 I guess, take a saw to it and make it fit - probably wouldn't work so well though.

deus ex mankind divided recommended specs, i'll let you know how much usage we get upto when it releases lol

Recommended Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K or AMD FX 8350 Wraith
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 480 - 1920 x 1080 or NVIDIA GTX 970 - 1920 x 1080
- Storage: 55 GB available space
- Additional Notes: 55GB HD space includes DLC

At this point games are getting more graphically intensive and more hungry on computer resources, 16GB may not cut it in a few years, so i am waiting to get some money to make the jump and get another 16GB of RAM.

But why not wait the few years until you actually need it?
