Any point in normal TV with iPlayer and Sky Player

Let's see....

TV Licence, £110ish per year
Total number of us in the house, 5
Cost per person, per year, £22, or £1.83 a month

lol!

Obviously different if you live just 2 in the house, but even that is under a fiver a month.

When you consider that we're only paying for one company though, regardless of whether the "TV" licence is used to fund the BBC's other ventures as well or not.

The states don't pay for a TV licence, why should we?

I'd rather have adverts every 15 minutes during a show and not pay a penny a year tbh.

No way! Nothing irks me more than adverts, especially the frequency on satellite/cable tv.

I'd rather pay a negligible fee to remove such assaults on my brain :p

But then my tv is mainly for watching movies/shows from the web anyway, but sometimes the Hollyoaks omnibus on a hangover Sunday morning is ok for brainless viewing.

Despite what is being said i heard perfectly clear on the radio the other day that you still need a TV licence to watch programmes online such as BBC iPlayer, Sky Player & 4OD etc. which i think is a load of ***** and i don't get how they can impose this?? The things we watch on the internet on iPlayer etc are only previously aired programmes, nothing like the crap adverts we have on TV at the moment.

Liam

you're wrong

You do not need a television licence to watch programmes on the current version of BBC iPlayer.

that will be decent BB speed, most channels and phone line to boot.
sky is seemingly cheaper because they dont include the BT phone line rental that you have to pay ;]

Sky costs £57 per month for all channels and broadband and free weekend and evening calls, including line rental.

In all fairness, although I could go without a TV, I think I should still pay the licence fee as I use so many BBC services. I watch BBC news 24 daily aswell as the news website, I listen to Radio1 on the way home and use iPlayer. I think I get value for money from the beeb.

You can watch live tv on laptops as long as it isn't plugged into the mains and was bought under your home address and your home address has a license. This is because it is classed a mobile device. Nice loophole for you there :)

How do you watch tv with other people if you watch everything on a pc? Personally, I would much rather have a tv and sit comfortably on my sofa than watch stuff at my desk, so I only watch things on iplayer if I forgot to add them to Sky+.

TV is barely worth watching nowadays :/

Can play films on my pc too. Haven't really used the iPlayer, but if there is something I want to watch, I record it downstairs (BT Vision) and watch later.
