Any point reporting this?

I keep encountering the same guy almost every morning on my commute to work driving like an absolute moron. My commute consists almost entirely of NSL country lanes which I quite happily cruise along at a nice steady 60-65MPH without having to so much as breathe on the brakes.

I keep encountering the same filthy 54 plate BMW 1 series come flying up behind me overtaking everything he can, in itself this is not a problem it's more to do with the fact that he seems to like overtaking on blind bends & approaching crests of hills. I had to brake this morning so that he could pull back in without taking the front end of my car off or hitting the Nissan Primera coming the other way head on.

It's basically a matter of time until he involves someone else in a smash, unless he loses it on a bend & puts his car on it's roof in a field first or is really lucky.

Thoughts?

No harm in reporting it, worst case the police do nothing, best case they go talk to the knob and maybe get shake some sense into him.

Report it,better this than seeing the same car involved in a potentially fatal..... Think how you'd feel should you see this having not done so.

If it's happened so much why not get a dash cam and record this idiot?

Reporting it wouldn't do any harm as it'll teach him to calm down...hopefully.

Not a bad idea, I could leave my phone recording in it's dash cradle. I car share though so don't drive my own car next week.

If they stuck a camera on there one morning he'd be screwed as he must be pushing close on 100 when there is nothing in front of him.

Report him first. If he continues, film him when you're a passenger then show that footage to the 5-0. There's no place for morons on the roads where they potentially endanger other road users. There's really no reason for anyone to drive like that all the time.

Report it.

Purely for the reason that you'll find it hard to live with yourself if you do nothing and he kills someone.

Done, suppose it's only 5 mins of my time to do it.

I did suggest they park an unmarked car on there in a morning as i can give them the time to wait withan accuracy of about 10 mins & got some spiel about not having the resources.

got some spiel about not having the resources.

Try and give them some help in doing their job and get it thrown back in your face :( it's not right, at least a half sincere thank you for your suggestions, we'll see what we can do would be nice to hear off them and not some spiel about not having resources.

Fair play for doing your part though, I'm a fan of having a bit of fun when driving when the mood strikes and its in an appropriate place to do so and country lanes during busy periods on blind bends and hills is not the place to do it

It's not fun he is doing it for, one day last week he was stuck in a queue of traffic & was in front of us overtaking cars 3-4 at a time as gaps opened up as the queue moved along in a concertina fashion.

He's either a really impatient **** or he can't get up for work in a morning and is at risk of being fired for poor timekeeping.

Well, you've done all you can - more so than most folk would.

If the police wont take care of the issue then unfortunately then it's in Darwin's hands now.

Report it to the police make a note of when and who you spoke to- IF it turns out this idiot does wipe himself out and takes others along with him. You can say you gave them warning of this "accident waiting to happen" and they did nothing, then let them squirm whilst explaining they took no action to the deceased relatives

So you're basically saying, use this incident as something to bash the police over the head with? There's somewhere in the region of 35 million motorists in the UK. Should the Police be able to catch every random incident or track every single one of them all of the time?

Sorry but comments like yours irritate me immensly. Nothing personal!

Its not a random incident though. It seems to be every day...
