So, for the last few weeks, I seem to have developed an annoying habit of waking up about 3-4am... Cos i've had a good few hrs sleep by this time, i'm awake and it takes me a good 30-45mins to fall back asleep again.. Plus i have to watch TV.

Anyway, any recommendations of a way to break this cycle?

My life isn't under stress. I have a comfy bed, there's no noise. Just a subconscious cycle, I reckon.. I think i was perhaps a little under stress with work, a few weeks ago, when i had a reason to start the cycle, but now that's over with, i just wanna go back to going to bed a 11pm and waking up at 6am

Not going to bed at 11pm, waking up at 3-4am, taking a lash, watching some tv, before dosing off again and sleeping in til 7am making me late for my usual chores in the morning.

Stop watching TV for a start.
Get your body used to... "it's dark, it's time to sleep".
For the first few nights yea you'll be staring at the ceiling awake but your body will soon learn there is nothing to wake up for.

been falling asleep to tv since i can remember, but i'll give it a try.

Could try staying up till that time then going to sleep, rather then splitting it in two so the next night hopefully you'll be tired and sleep through.

I enjoy waking up that early. I know I can then go back to bed and feel like I have had a nice lie in, false logic I know but I still like it.

There was something about this on bbc news site maybe a couple of months ago. It's seems there is a fair number of people who sleep in two stages rather than 1 continuous stretch.

I think I am similar, in fact I woke up about 4am this morning, went for a slash and back to bed. Sometimes it takes a while to fall asleep again. The article highlighted that some people get up and do something in this period like reading, doing a puzzle book, even going out for a walk, then returning to bed and sleeping again before waking up for the next day.

So it just seems like tv is your 'thing'.

Damn straight, one of the best feelings in the world.

Of course the total opposite is when you wake up and feel you've barely slept, and it's 5 minutes before your alarm goes off. That literally makes me swear out loud.

i've been the same for 2 odd weeks now, i just get up and live on 3-4 hours sleep a day i do find going to bed early 10pm helped for a week but then wake up at 3am anyway.

saying that in 12 weeks ill have a newborn so sleep will be minimal :D

Any recorded tv programme mainly featuring Adrian Chiles before you sleep. Should be enough to put you into a coma.
