My PC: Acer aspire T2-715

Previous Scinario:
Three seconds after power on, boot freezes at "acer" logo.

Solution:
Replaced the Acer motherboard with a new & compatible Asus one.
The job was done by a shop. They could not find the same Acer board, so replaced it with an Asus one, Q170M2.

The Q170M2 does not accept M.2 SSD. My original M.2 SSD is full of tools & apps suitable for my work and now becomes a waste.

I want to use my original M.2 SSD on the Q170M2.

Is there any way to use an M.2 SSD on Q170M2, please?

Thank you.
Diano

What's the precise model of that M.2 drive?

It could be either PCIe based (NVMe) or SATA drive in just different form factor than 2.5".

Eh? I've just downloaded the manual and there's an M.2 socket between the CPU socket and the first PCIE slot.
Thank you.
Here is the layout of Q170M2. I do not see the M.2 socket. Help, please?

You mentioned "SATA drive" in different form. Do you mean that an M.2 SSD can be run as a SATA drive with an adapter?

The M.2 form factor can support either NVME or SATA signalling - motherboards may support one or both on a particular M.2 slot; depending on how the manufacturer has designed the board.

An M.2 form factor SSD will generally use either SATA or NVME signalling, not both. That's why @EsaT asked what the model of M.2 drive was - if you have a SATA M.2, but the board M.2 socket only supports NVME or vice-versa you will need an adapter of some sort.

After a quick look, I couldn't see adapters that convert the signalling, only the form factor; that's not to say they don't exist, though.

This is almost all of the info on the SSD.

What kind of an adapter I must have to get this SSD run on an Asus board Q170M2 ?

Acer scammed you, that's SATA SSD, which would have been as fast as 2.5" drive in end of SATA cable.

While that would fit into mobo (M.2 mode needs to be set to SATA in BIOS) really wouldn't waste only M.2 slot for some secondary SATA drive.
There are USB enclosures for both SATA and PCIe M.2 drives which cna be used to access drives.

Number 4 is the slots of RAM.
Do I have a diffferent Q170M2 ?
Yes, it does look like you have and I didn't think there were any modern motherboards without a 2280 M.2 slot.
Now we know you have a SATA m.2 drive, you should be able to find an M.2 to 2.5" SATA convertor or M.2 SATA to USB enclosure. We're not allowed to recommend anything from sites other than our host and I can't find a SATA adapter but https://www.overclockers.co.uk/akas...2-ssd-aluminum-enclosure-black-hd-05a-ak.html is a suitable USB enclosure.
