Any Windows 10 Creators Update users out there?

Macrium is the dogs nads. I use it on multiple servers and workstations. Saved me a few times.

Completely agree. I always make irregular backups as the norm but I will do another just before such a large update.

This time I only messed up due to forgetting to backup my saved game for Cities Skylines, I had sunk more hours into it and just forgot to do what was needed :(

I would advise caution before updating to this release just yet, at least have the backups at hand.

My games are now a stuttery mess since the update, Fallout 4 is shocking and was buttery smooth for 300+ hours of gameplay before the update.

mine has been the same since Friday.

Update last week.. since Friday even windows has been stuttery as hell (draggin around windows on desktop was laggy as hell) Did windows refesh which sort of sorted it but some games just dont feel smooth anymore.. battlefield 1 being the worse.. DX11 i used to run 110-130 fps on ultra but now it has plumetted to 60-80 fps and no matter what i do I cant get it back to performance. also overlays seem to have stopped working ...

Game mode on or off seems to make no difference.. tried various different drivers.. can only put it down to the OS being at fault.

Also cannot work out the whole driver thing with windows. decided to let windows install the drivers for the chipset rather than the ones from the MB website and do a comparison in terms of version but the version numbers for drivers never seem to make sense and some of the dates of the drivers are way off.

I have noticed that you simply can't disable Cortana with the Creators update. Previously you could do a simple registry hack i.e.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search. If the search was missing then simply create the folder 'Windows Search' then type the value AllowCortana and give the DWORD (32-bit) Value 0 or 1 if you wanted to use Cortana again.

Sadly this no longer works in the Creators update - pretty annoying as even if you switch off the strident voice it doesn't stop her from providing you with suggestions etc.

Yep. I can find no way to stop Cortana popping up in my notification area asking if I want it to look for a place to eat out etc. Really annoying.

Too true. Complete system image before this update. Another MS mess by the number of problems appearing on this and other forums.

I run Windows as a VM on my Mac so even if the worst happens I have another couple of Vbox VDI clones in order to restore the entire image as was. Very satisfying when you can simply press 'release and delete'.

Should have hung on and not bothered to install this update....

periodically I keep getting low memory warnings, I have 16GB of RAM and minimal start up programs. Never seen that issue before but I am seeing it often now.

I can be browsing and suddenly I get a low memory or resource warning.

Grrrrr
You running a fixed size page file?

No and I have never done that.

My Windows 10 install is pretty simplistic with minimal start up applications etc. With 16GB of RAM and x64 which has always been ultra stable it was unexpected to see that.

It occured whilst playing the Cities Skylines game, also when, from a fresh boot, Outlook or Chrome had been used for an hour or so. Even MS Paint was mentioned, like in the quoted screen.

I have resource monitor opened at the time to monitor the commit charge and watch as it climbed. I did not notice any one particular app or game etc causing the issue. I had seconds to react before the system would beep on key press.

Restored my previous build and, like it was, it is now rock solid and super stable. Lots of things running away with zero issues.

Strange one for sure.

When W10 first launched unexplained memory leaks were usually caused by a broken Killer network driver. No idea if you have such a board.

^^^ Could have been many things, point taken tho. :)
To be frank I wasn't really into putting too much effort into trying to resolve an issue that I hadn't had prior to the update. I did ensure that all the drivers were up to date and stopped all unnecessary stuff, like Malwarebytes etc, from starting. It was a pretty clean and lean install prior to the update. Including the Intel LAN drivers on my Asus Sabertooth S Z170 board.

I used Macrium and now I'm back to the super rock solid build that I have had for such a long time.

Hopefully by the time that the update will be rolled out to me officially drivers or further updates might make it a very different experience. If not I have Macrium, or I then might have more inclination to see how it could be resolved.
