Any word on the E5200?

Well, at 4GHz with 1.425V. Don't trust temps from RealTemp - seem no different than stock temps.

Not done any real stability testing yet, but games run so much better than Q6600 at 3.2GHz when coupled with 4870.

Going to give Assassins Creed a quick spin with this at 4GHz, then going to give the 4850's in crossfire one last go - am so tired of swapping cards around. I really need to decide which setup I want and get rid of rest.

That's pretty good for a £58 cpu. These things are supposed to run very cool too.

What a dilemma you have. Woe is you!! :p You can give me the 4850's if you like. :D:D:D

Nice!!! Personally I would keep the 4870 and flog the 4850s. You will probably get more money for them, and not lose that much on performance; Crossfire is still not supported fantastically.

Decided to stick with the 4870....

Anyway, this e5200 seems to have a REALLY low FSB wall. It will not post at 400 FSB, though I am not sure where between 333 and 400 it hits the wall. Slightly disappointing as wanted to run RAM at 1:1, but not the end of the world.

Did not really get round to any more stability testing last night, so hopefully this weekend.

One thing though, this chip at stock just feels smoother for Crysis than the Q6600 at stock. Which is odd, and really does make me think I was right about something not being right with the quad in my system. Not sure if is chip or board though. It's not that it was slow, just that it didn't feel as fast as it should have.

Oh, with this chip at 4GHz I did a 1MB SuperPi run and it finished in 14.695. Is that good?

Wow those do seem like awesome chips, but i believe that back when i bought my E6400 there was about a 5-10% loss in games, that would add up quite a bit?

I was considering ditching my E2180 @ 3Ghz for something with a little more grunt, I'm getting quite bad slowdowns in TF2.

Is it worth getting shot of the E2180 for one of these or should I save a little and get an E8500 instead? My fear is that despite it being relatively cheap, I might pay and not see a huge bonus from the E2180, almost like paying for the E2180 again.

I've got one of these chips, new to overclocking also, I have got the thing Orthos stable for atleast 10 hours @ 3.4ghz at 1.29375 volts in Bios but only 1.27 volts in CPU-Z, think i'll push it some more tonight, maybe max the volts at like 1.4? Does that seem reasonable? I dont think i'll rech 4ghz all i'm doing is keeping the multiplier at 12.5 - is it better to lower this and higher the fsb is it easier to overclock this way with less volts?

Personally Id keep your chip and wait until E0s E8500s are out to make it worthwhile moving...

Im getting an E5200 for the same reason - to tide me over...

ps3ud0

Just about to get one of these, cannot believe the price of this processor :D Excellent value for money, should arrive Tuesday will pair it with a P5Q-E Ill try and post my OC results ect.

What OC results have people being getting?

i`m up to 3.6ghz(300x12) running it on a Gigabyte p31dsl board with 4gb of ocz ram
I`ve tested it using orthos for a couple of hours and it has been very stable,
temps have risen to 60 whilst running orthos and are about 31-36 when running idle using Artic Freezer 7(Do these temps sound ok?)
Everything appears to be running fine at the moment

As ps3ud0 said, the performance increase will be minimal between an e2180 and a standard E8-00 series, unless you go for a chip with an E0 stepping. I noticed there was similarly little difference between my E2200 @ 3ghz and my E8400 so far as fps increase / fluidity increase was concerned in TF2. However, more advanced games such as COD4 and Crysis loved my E8400 yet hated my E2200 running at the same speed.

Can you show some crysis benches with e2200 and e8400 at high-ish res? I have e2160 as per sig and am contemplating getting this e5200 for a potential boost. I am not too sure that the increase in FPS will be worth it having seen the crysis bench thread, but am always happy to be proved wrong! ;)

Cheers
