Anybody a firefighter?

Andr3w's going to be the UK's first emo firefighter!

You could cry all the fires out!

:D

Or slit your wrists and bleed on them :p

Mind that fringe over the side of your eye doesn't get in the way though, saying that it might make you fail the eye test :D

Greater Manchester were recruiting a few weeks back, they must get loads of applicants, there was a ballot to see if you even got an application form..

Possibly the least-favorite area to go to? Don't they get pelted with bricks?

Depends where you get stationed I suppose, you might get it sometimes in the darkest bits of Moss Side, but get sent toward the airport and your more likely to be sipping tea after rescuing a millionaires cat from a tree.

Manchester has its rough bits like anywhere else.

I haver just completed all the tests and have passed. :D I only have the interview to do on Friday 7th April. BTW I am 40 years old and found the test very easy.

not sure i would want to do it all the time, however i have been tempted by being a retained firefighter before. im nowhere near fitness level yet tho, so wont think about it again for a while!

Glad I spotted this thread, my eldest son who leaves school in June is hoping to join the fire service, and I have a few concerns.

He has been advised to do a 2 year college course that helps to train you for the Fire Service, Police Force, and Army. I imagine the course will favor him on say an application form or will it?

My main concern is if he fails say the training within the Fire Service or doesn’t even get past an initial application form is there a time frame where he can’t re apply etc.

Thanks Dutch

It will probably show an ongoing interest in the service, and a great deal of commitment. It can only work in his favour.

He can reapply as soon as they recruit again although this could be quite soom time.
a lot of people in the Fire Service didn't get in at their first go so just keep trying.
