Anybody else get a Chlamydia test in the post?

I asked that question. She said its her ****ing house and she signed for the delivery. (it was Royal Mail Special Delivery).

Still I'd have a massive go at her, just to show her she is in the wrong, especially if she doesn't trust you.

Aren't some people just born with STD's? How else do they 'start'?

Your mum is making me lol

wait so muslim people dont have sex going on? :O no wai xD tell me more about it :D

They do, they just don't talk about it and pretend that they don't. I have friends who are playing the game and friends who genuinely refuse to believe that the game is played...

Seen this before, the local PCTs did a mass mailing inviting people to have tests for it. Had a competition offer in there which was amusing.

Your mum sounds like a mental. She opens your mail? I'm not clear on the law exactly but I'm pretty sure it's an offence to open someone elses mail, not sure if it still applies for your mum but even if it doesn't it's just damn rude.

You're 18, getting a STD kit in the post that has been sent to all young people in your area is a stupid thing to get angry about. People have sex, even her son! so she might as well get used to it, if it's still a problem poop on her pillow.

It's only an offense if the mail has been delivered incorrectly.

Interfering with the mail: general

(1)
A person commits an offence if, without reasonable excuse, he—

(a)
intentionally delays or opens a postal packet in the course of its transmission by post, or

(b)
intentionally opens a mail-bag.

(2)
Subsections (2) to (5) of section 83 apply to subsection (1) above as they apply to subsection (1) of that section.

(3)
A person commits an offence if, intending to act to a person’s detriment and without reasonable excuse, he opens a postal packet which he knows or reasonably suspects has been incorrectly delivered to him.

The mail was delivered correctly, to the correct address, so anything that happened beyond that is not likely to be illegal, not to mention the act has to be intending to be to the person's detriment.

They've been offering free tests at my college. If we do them we get a free 128mb memory stick!

The Chlamydia Screening Programme have a target of screening 25% of 16-24 year olds. This is a HUGE challenge and they'll do whatever they can to try and reach that target...a mail out is an easy way to reach high numbers of young people.

It is estimated that at least 1/3 of young people are having sex before they are 16 years old, however many more than that may be sexually active in the sense that they are having sexual contact. Chlamydia can be transmitted through any form of unprotected sexual contact (this does not have to involve penetration) so a lot of people who think they haven't been at risk, may have been. When you count your sexual partners, you should include anyone you've had sexual contact with - you don't have to have had "full" (penetrative) sex for it to count!

A lot of young people want to take a test but are too embarrassed (there are many other barriers too!) so postal kits are an ideal way of reaching those young people. The Chlamydia Screening Programme should probably think a bit harder about the potential consequences of doing this. Having said that, they are likely to reach out to many young people who couldn't bring themselves to go and get tested elsewhere (for whatever reason - whether cultural, religious or whatever).

Chlamydia is sooooo easy to treat if you detect it early on (a simple course of antibiotics) but can have severe complications if it goes undetected for a long time. If you get the opportunity get tested, all you have to do is pee in a pot and you get peace of mind!

Asim18: maybe you could just explain to your mum that you didn't request the pack and that they've been sent to all young people in your age range? I know it's probably not that simple. Good luck though.

One of my friends did a free wee test in one of the bars in town.

Turns out he has the clap!

The girl he's seeing doesn't though
