Anybody else here that loves tools...?

Funny you should post that.. it was only yesterday that I was thinking it's a while since I spent some time out in the garage doing something pointless on mine. :D

I've actually been looking at the cost of second hand ones :o. Not that I'm actually going (or can afford) to buy one. But hey :D

My mates take the **** out of me when they catch me Cleaning my Tools but I don't care as I Honestly Love them.
I've Always had a decent tool kit & have just added to it my whole life, Nowadays I have tools that I don't even know I have until I need them. :p

I'm agonising whether to splash out for an AC/DC TIG welder right now. I don't *need* one, but I've always wanted to be able to weld alloy and I really enjoy gas welding which is much closer to TIG than MIG/MAG or MMA.

One of my fave past times is Metal forming, I Love forming Panels for welding, Don't know why at all but when I'm forming metal I just feel settled, Probably the Gypo in me I dunno.

I've got the same; lovely tool and very very powerful for it's small size. Ideal for releasing gearbox-to-engine bolts etc.

The top rubber cover will come off, I'll warn you of that!!

I agree mate, ideal for jobs like that where a half inch gun is just to big...makes me wonder why i didn't buy one sooner!. As for the top cover, fingers crossed it'll stay put at it lives in its rubber boot to save it a little from knocks and scuffs...
:)

MMMmmmmmmm TOOLS
Yes I love tools

Here is my toolbox hiding behind the bint.
Apologies it can't be any better but it's the most family forum friendly one I could find :o

i actually really don't like her squashed face/mouth

woulnd't mind the tools however

:p

I can Honestly say I would take the Tools any day.
She would have to be a pretty special woman for me to pick her over those tools though. :p

Don't forget, if you love your tools, look after them!

Like making sure the shed roof doesn't leak. And finding your "auto-dark" welding mask is full of water, and no longer has an "auto" function, it's just "dark".

Was like working in the sodding stone-age this afternoon.

Ahh I hate that too, been soooooo many years since I used the old bit of dark glass inside a helmet you forget how useful the auto darkening ones are..
Such a PITA when you need a third hand to operate the mask

not at all really i do a fair bit of welding at work(heavy mma and mig mainly some tig) myself and most my collegues actually do not rate the auto darkening helmets at all having tried various brands of them a decent normal old school helmet has far superior vision and clarity. as for needing a 3rd hand?? i'm confused i only need a hand to lift it to drop the lid you just nod and it falls shut.
regards
Andy

edit I guess for panal work with a mig they could be use full since your not doing weld runs only lots of small tacks, but this is not something i ever do.

I used to be a structural steel fabricator ;)
Used the the old school ones when I started, as that's all there was back then and as you say, a nod of the head and it's down.. (usually smacking you in the nose as the side nuts are so worn out from all the up down up down over the years)
I admit the green tint isn't as nice as the old school blue and yes it is much clearer too but 7 or so years on, I'd never go back now..

Spent my afternoon playing "hunt the solid bodywork" trying to repair a sill on an escort 55 van. 2"x1" hole from the MOT mans hammer turned into an 18" long piece the full height of the sill.

Looked like a previous repair had be perfect to let water in and keep it there, so it ate away at everything inside (including the inner cill, which the MOT man missed!)

THAT is one place a auto darken one wins every time, it's seriously difficult to nod your head sideways, whilst led under the car.
