Anybody on the boards not into gaming at all?

I don't game much these days, mostly because I don't have much free time. The free time I do have usually gets used up by seeing friends or learning music.

I did have a bash at the Dragon Age Origins DLC I hadn't played the other night though. There's something about RPGs that I find immensely satisfying - a good one is just like an interactive story anyhow so I don't see why it's any different to immersing myself in a decent fantasy novel...

The fact that gaming isn't achieving anything tangible shouldn't be a problem really. Life is short so having "fun" in any format is important IMHO, whether that be watching films, playing games or playing sports.
 
I don't play computer games. I tinker with cars and bicycles, make stuff or watch telly instead. Sometimes I have sex, if I'm lucky :)

Back in the day when gameplay and story was the main focus they could've now everythings all stunning visuals and a lack of depth to the stories and gameplay!

Also I game regularly however I do do other stuff as well reading, Cycling, drinking copiously etc...

if 1984 gave you a completely new perspective on life or changed the way you think you're an easily led moron ,or more likely it didn't but you like to claim it did because you think it makes you look clever or intellectual.
 
I play games, but not often. I think the only thing I've actually completed this year has been the new Deus Ex.

Fifa is where it's at, but I don't really get the time for that any more either. Games are a last resort for me, behind sport and socialising.
 
There is still some great storytelling in games today. The stories within the Half Life/Portal universe are excellent, the same could be said for Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and The Elder Scrolls series.

More important, though, are the games that let you make up your own story and fully stimulate the imagination, such as Minecraft. No book can let you build your own story, and the environment within that story piece by piece to that extent.
 
TBH, I don't get to play all that much these days. Still love buying all the hardware though. I have two gaming pc's, 4 PS3's (one for each TV), xbox360, Wii, some retro consoles, and some handhelds. Plus 4 fully sanwa'd up arcade joysticks.

I also have two young boys, they love to play. Actually gamnig for me these days is a bit of a chore.. I always get asked daddy will you play a game with me.. Normally Halo or Streetfighter. If I play a game on my own these days, its normally a classic on MAME, like Defender or Galaga.. Nice and simple, fun and done in about 20mins..

I think the future of 'PC' gaming is on the decline and on the way out, including the PC hardware market. We are at the stage where PC gaming should be taking off and leaving the consoles behind, since the last gen is 6yrs old now, yet all we get is sloppy ports of a console title. I'm struggling the justification to upgrade my PC at the moment.

Spending $500 on a new gfx card / CPU isn't going to make our OcUK forum's run any faster. It was gaming that kept the upgrade your pc market buoyant.

Also ask any non-gamer, regular facebooker, emailer user, who has an iPad and a laptop, what do they prefer using? and they'll all answer the same.. The iPad. They seem to be taking even more steam out of the upgrade your PC market. OcUK may be in for some tough times ahead.

I play a fair few games but not every day and often for only about an hour although plenty of days it can be 2-3 hours BUT I don't really watch TV. Plenty of people think it's the norm to watch 5 hours of TV every night and then go on to say they don't see how I have time to play games:confused:
 
I used to be (Various driving sims, MoH, CoD, CS:S, HL2, BF2) but then gave up as I found I didn't really have the time.

BF3 might persuade me back though.

I found it quite stimulating.......though I was expanding on an alternative authortarian system of my own which I feel would be more acceptable. :D

Time wasted is time well spent. Those days when you are working your ass off or caught up in a whole bunch of ****. You just wish you were at home in your boxes playing a FPS and getting drunk in at 4pm...

I only play quake live at the moment but i usually only play for 30 mins most days and never realy bother about new games. I might try this new counter strike when it gets released. But if i don't play for a few weeks i dont mind.

So i play games but i would not say that i am in to gaming. I spend more time reading and watching youtube videos on specific topics like economics and security etc.

I would definitely like to get a hobby that does not involve the PC and does not cost any money.
 
I'm finding it more and more difficult to play/enjoy games as I get older. With starting university and buying our first house, there is always something that takes priority over gaming. Even when I do game, I feel an overwhelming sense of guilt and keep thinking that I should be using the time more wisely.....and then I go and waste 3 hours on here instead.

Sums me up to a tee also, though I'm not onto first house or anything that important
 
Around the Atari 2600 and Mattel Intellivision days you couldn't get me off gaming and then Kick Off 2 on the Atari ST nearly ruined my marriage.
I used to dream about games where I could walk around in a 3D world blasting stuff but when that time came (Doom!!) I wasn't interested anymore.
The other day I popped into the Gaming section and that Battlefield looks bloody awesome but it would probably end up being too hard for me.

Same here, mostly tinker/build motorbikes though, find its a good way to spend all your money and im always learning and have a lot to show for my time.

I dont have sex :( I don't get moaned at though or have to do couple things!

I think i outgamed myself to tell the truth. Now i just fire up the odd game of starcraft if i have time and in the main even thats just to catch up with online friends
