I don't game much these days, mostly because I don't have much free time. The free time I do have usually gets used up by seeing friends or learning music.
I did have a bash at the Dragon Age Origins DLC I hadn't played the other night though. There's something about RPGs that I find immensely satisfying - a good one is just like an interactive story anyhow so I don't see why it's any different to immersing myself in a decent fantasy novel...
The fact that gaming isn't achieving anything tangible shouldn't be a problem really. Life is short so having "fun" in any format is important IMHO, whether that be watching films, playing games or playing sports.
