Anyone driven...

aygo drives horrible, they are all cheapo spec horrible cars.. dont make use of the scrapage scheme.. its a scam, just buy private and sell the current car.

easily affordable
and small which seems to be the main priority.

However, a used fiesta or so would probably be better.

What about the Hyundai Getz? ... used to hear decent things about them.

Failing that ...no actually I don't know, I can't really recommend a V8 barge this time, I dunno, Getz it is then.

depends on how good a deal you get ;)

The scrappage scam takes away all leverage for doing a good deal. Struggling to think what a 8k Aygo can do that a 2k Fiesta can't. That 6k saving will be better than a few more MPGs and ZOMG CHEAP TAX!!!ONE.

Toyota Aygo I have driven. At first it looks cheap and feels it. Inside you can see metal etc but then I suppose most cars at this budget will have naked bits here and there. However, after taking it for a spin round town it was a laugh if im honest. Quite nimble and a responsive engine with a good note. I would say the better out of the 3 in the list.

ah true, wasnt really taking into account the crappy scrappage scheme. Was just talking of my own experience buying one outwith that scheme

They're all built in the same factory Kolín, Czech Republic. Never read up on what you sold eh, or is it just french/jap brand snobery?

Um, the Aygo, Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107 are all the same car (bar the obvious badge changes).

My wife's sister has a C1, its erm......... red. :p

Seriously though its a decent enough car but Half the budget on a Fiesta would have been a better choice (and one I kept repeating to no avail).

Czech, same as the toyota.

Well you sure know your facts about them.

Yeah I think so.

One girl from work has an aygo, I asked if I could drive it sometime ( to see what the deal is with new cars), she said yes but then I forgot about it once the shift was over :(. Nobody so far I know has talked negatively about it, they all seem to like it and consider it a decent car for it's class.

Agreed, they are all built at the same factory but not on the same production line, BUT Toyota have their own level of quality to check for (How 100% correct that is I don't know, but it's all they bang on about when you go to Toyota in Burnaston). Having sat in and driven a 107 (the admin girl at Toyota had one) you could see the difference in build quality and road noise between the two.

So yes I did read up on what I sold actually.

The Kia Rio is probably the worst new car on sale today, I didnt even realise they still made them.

its just horrible in every sense imaginable.

It feells cramped, the fit and finish of the interior is obviously from a mega cheap car, the seats arent very supportive and feel like they've been made by an indian slave child and are about 2cm thick.

The gearbox is like wading in rice pudding, and theres just no sort of feeling to driving experience at all. Your turning wheels and pushing pedals, but you just feel so completely removed fron the driving experience you may as well be using a remote control from home.

I had one as a hirecare once when my car was in for some body shop work and i hated every minute of it.

THe cee'd is actually a very decent attempt by all accounts. It addresses many of their previous cars shortcommings. But you can tell the rio is from a time when they made cars without any consideration or though whatsoever and said "well its a car, with wheels, thats cheap, what more do you want"

You two have clearly never driven a Chevrolet Matiz.

I actually have because my Gran has owned 3 of them.

The Matiz is, of course, utterly, utterly dire. But it at least has perhaps 1 or 2 redeeming features. It's very, very small.

What redeeming features has a Rio got? Its not even that cheap.

Going on the drive alone - I'd seriously feel safer driving out of a scrap yard in one of their random intakes than a Matiz, to the point where I used to opt to take the bus home rather than a courtesy car when the VXR went in for work.

I saw a Kia Rio having a head gasket done the other day. The engine was on the floor and the subframe - which seemed to encase the engine - was also out. I saw the subframe and assumed it was from the 4x4 on the lift next to the Rio! ****** huge steel frame! They really are agricultural. And Head gasket is an engine out job.. wut!?

If you really must use the scrappage scheme to buy a cheap new car; get a Panda.

What about a Hyundia i10? Looked miles better than the Kia's when I was looking for a new car for someone, has a 5 year warrenty as well.

If I had to buy a new cheap car my money would also go on a Hyundai i10. One of my friends got one and as far as cheap small cars go it's not bad at all

Get the 1.2 over the 1.1 though - have a look here http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/index.htm?md=1283

So how bad is the torque steer ? :D

I really hate the Matiz, it's like wearing those track suits made of what appears to be towel with white trainers.

"I look like a ****ing disgrace but I'm not naked."
