Anyone else bored of current FPS games?

I keep going back to UT and UT2K4, and only in the last month or so, I have even bought whole new copies of UT2004 and UT2007 because we cannot find our originals of the games just so we can re-install them onto the LAN... We have not even bothered at all with 2007 and I have annoyingly got 9 Originals of that game now.

Quake 2 and Quake 3 - another pair of games that are staying in my collection.

More recent games, not just FPS but they look great and are utter drivvel.

Only games that seem to have me coming back for more seem to be Dawn Of War.

Dawn of War 2 seems to lack something for me and I kind of wished that they had allowed much much more characters and I was allowed to use all my team instead of just 3 or 4 but there you go.

Again, I have Chaos but I have not yet installed it purely because Im on my 5 millionth run through of SoulStorm.

Maybe one day I will actually get good???

FPS games have always been all about teamwork and testing my own limits, so no, I'm not bored of the genre in general. No amount of gimmicks can make up for slick mouse controls and a good framerate, and the best of both are to be found in games from 5-10 years ago (UT, CS, etc). I am quite sick of the way developers are now completely ****ing up the mouse controls in their games (even BC2 is pretty poor in this aspect, even though I love the game), but overall, I'm still very much into FPS games.

Now RTS games, that's a different story...

Well i've got numerous FPS games but nothing seems to keep me addicted.
Gameplay seems to have gone out of the window and the last game i can say i played seriously was Soldier Of Fortune 2.

SOF3 come out and as usual PC gamers were forgotten and it was a complete joke. Does anybody know if there is anything coming out FPS wise that might be worth looking at?

Im getting into driving games because of the lack of decent FPS games at the moment as i just cant find anything that really grips me like SOF2 did i played that game for over 3 years and it never got boring.

And just to clarify this is my current games collection for FPS:

Arma 2
BF:2142
BF:BC2
COD:MW
COD:MW2
COD:WAW
Crysis
Crysis Warhead
Crysis Wars
CS:S
DOD:S
Far Cry 2
Fear
Operation Flashpoint: Dragons Rising
Stalker Clear Skys
Unreal Tournament 3

Whats left to play thats worth playing and its the online MP im interesting in i dont play SP.

Counter-Strike 1.6 + Quake Live.

Your collection (other than UT3) seems to be biased towards the 'realistic' end of the shooter market. They say variety is the spice of life - why not try TF2, L4D, Borderlands, Killing Floor, Serious Sam HD, or some of the more alternative MP shooters -Pirates, Knights, Vikings, Mare Nostrum, Shattered Horizon etc.

After about 2 years of playing it, TF2 is still my favourite FPS to play. To me it's just totally different from every other FPS out there, and getting to know people from playing on the same server just makes it even better.

The last FPS i played was Wolfenstein, but there is very little out that interests me.

Looking at that list I think I can understand why you might be feeling this way, there are some greats FPS games on that list but I think maybe you should try something a little different.

I recommend the following,

Bioshock
Fallout 3
Boarderlands

I'm personally looking forward to RAGE, the "Dads Army" stuff really doesn't do it for me, MW2 was the first fps of that style I enjoyed and finished.

I've been bored of FPS games for years now. Finished Crysis purely because I wanted to see all the graphics. Gave up on Bioshock, haven't bothered with Bioshock 2, Dead Space, Far Cry 2, et al.

MP holds limited appeal for me. I don't really like competitive MP, so the only FPSs I have played recently and enjoyed were L4D and Borderlands. War based FPS do even less for me, so MW2, BC2, COD4, etc are complete meh for me.

Thank god for Bioware!

I'm really desperate for a realistic indoor Rainbow Six type game. The last proper one was Raven Shield as people have said and it was immense. The problem is that it's now really showing its age.

If only a fully fledged PC R6 game was in the pipeline! I don't think anything is on the horizon. Vegas 1 was fun but nothing like the PC games. Vegas 2 was pants. So buggy. It was a joke.

Right now all I play is Arma 2 with the Ace2 combat mod (which feels like a different game to me) and the occasional Left for Dead 2 session. BC2 is good but too designed around a console. I want large scale maps in my outdoor shooters. BF 1942 is still the best imo.

could try the hunter its different and very good with a decent community and loads of new stuff coming very soon :cool:i was like u played every fps under the sun. this is now main game i play

graphics are stunning but there is a steep learning curve. so bit of patience is needed.

its free to try but if you want all the extras you have to pay for them but its still pretty cheap for what you get.

The FPS Muliplayer aspect of gaming is going backwards in my opinion. The most fun you can get out of an FPS is playing as a team and beating another team. Or at the very least teaming up on public, so that you feel you have a purpose in the game and not just out to frag the highest.

Unfortunately developers seem to be going backwards, removing dedicated servers and making it a more solo experience can only harm the genre.
