Anyone else do this?

My gearbox doesnt like block changing like many honda ones as it relies to much on the synchros to match the bigger speed differences so its mostly a 12345 and the reverse when slowing down.

bloody hell, what car do you drive with an engine so small it can't smoothly go from 2nd to 4th? or is your clutch control just that bad? ;)

B@Th*nG

I'm sure it could go smoothly from 2nd to 4th, but not as smoothly as at some point you are going to be reving pretty high in 2nd or juddering along because you are going too slow for 4th.

Though saying that I have a new car now so don't have to put up with a 1.1 engine anymore, I would imagine I'll see a difference.

The first time I read this i thought you were saying you used reverse gear to slow down

That would be interesting to see.

I usually go up through the gears normally, although I only have a 4 speed box (with overdrive), and it is hard enough getting it into gears normally, let alone starting to get creative.

I do that when playing LFS :D <3 Logitech G25 wheel

I sometimes block-change if I'm caning it up to a specific speed, but usually when driving around town just reasonably normally through 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Gear changes don't have to be, and don't need to be jerky in any car, if you're smooth with the clutch :)

The EP3 CTR has triple synchro cones on 1st 2nd and 3rd to deal with the speed differences.

So 1st to 4th is one hell of a speed change.

Just out of interest, what does a VTEC engine redline at? Because my car doesn't even have 8000 rpm on the dial.

It varies. My VTEC engine isn't a performance variant so it's about 6.7krpm. A Honda S2000 redlines at about 9000

I have to concentrate to do 30 on the bike lol, its barely and throttle movement :/ I cant shortshift to 6th as ill be doing about 70, so 1st throttle for a second then back off clutch in and click up to about 4th :p
