Anyone else here keep getting nuisance phone calls which starts with an automated message saying "This is not a sales call..." cant remember the rest think its something about Wills.

Litterally been called 20+ times. After the first 10 or so calls, I ended up pressing 5 to be put through to 'enquire'. I spoke really nicly and asked to be taken of the call rota. (I am never rude when asking or you always get put back to the top). The calls stopped for a couple of weeks, however, they have started again...

The 2nd time I pressed 5 again and got put through. Very nicly I asked what was the company name, as soon as a did the phoneline went dead.

Next time I am going to have to pretend to be interested for a bit longer to get the company name!

Anyone else getting these calls?

Not these in particular but I've noticed cold calls are getting worse. TPS does bugger all.

I normally pass them on to my 2 year old son who's quite happy to babble on.. They normally ask him if he is the house owner :D

LOL

/tinfoil hat every time you put your number on anything online (insurance quotes etc) you are asking for this type of tripe. Pain in the ass is an understatement.

we get them at work, always fun to explain to a guy trying to consolidate the debts of a large nationwide chain >.<

I rarely get actual people at home, always automated ones which are even worse.

I worked in a sales office at the start of the year though, some of the guys there were almost brutal with the cold callers...it was great fun.

Anyone played word-bingo with them? You write down a load of random words (generally business speak which means nothing in reality) and spout them to the cold-caller. As phrases like "boiling the ocean" or "pushing the envelope" sound really interested but mean nothing, the caller gets really exited...it's great fun, strongly recommended :D

I don't get them very often but when I do I answer when they ask for the home owner I say wait a second, then just leave the phone on the sofa while they wait.

They get bored eventually, my record is 7 minutes staying on the line.

im gunna do this :) i'll report back with with my record.

we have some fun with cold callers at work, making up various horrific and/or graphic excuses as to why the business owner is unavailable, makes for some great office humour

I just got that recorded Will message. Went though to an advisor and assured them that if it happened again they will be recieving the full force of the law as I have signed up to the TPS and therefor it's illegal to have my details and use them.

Never get any unsolicited calls at all normally, but this is the first time I've been in during the week for ages.

I do that too when they ask me if I have debts over £25k and I say yes. They get very interested until I say "Can you really wipe out our £4m overdraft?" They usually hang up after that.

Serves them right for ringing a business number.
