Anyone else getting nuisance phone calls? "This is not a sales call"

As i work from home a lot and im usually at the pc when i get one i just play some porn sound at them.... :p

"erm............ hello?....... erm..........." :p

Don't often get them, Last one was last week where I just repeatedly Ranted PUT THE PHONE DOWN PUT THE PHONE DOWN PUT THE PHONE DOWN. :p:p:p

You had to be there. :(

I just got that recorded Will message. Went though to an advisor and assured them that if it happened again they will be recieving the full force of the law as I have signed up to the TPS and therefor it's illegal to have my details and use them.

Only if the call originates in the UK. I'm not sure how the rules work for calls from a UK company originating from a non-UK call centre, but it's worth a shot.

I very rarely get cold called. I'm on MPS, TPS, ex-directory and excluded from the edited register of electors. I'm sure they can find me if they want to, but they're going to be disappointed having made the effort (random dialers aside) when they get a flat no. If it ever does get bad, I'll just install TrueCall on the line. Job done.

Worst problem I have isn't the telephone - it's junk mail from Virgin Media. I finally gave up, called them, and waved MPS at them. Seems to have done the trick - for now.

I just tell them to go away or if they persist they get ##166'd (a queue for cold callers).

Never get them at home, thankfully! But we do them them a lot at work, more recently than ever and also on my mobile phone. At work we usually get the same company ringing up nearly every other day asking if we are interested in getting a business phone contract, usually I say I am not interested and to take our number off their system but sadly it falls on deaf ears  Within the last 2 weeks whenver they ring I always say,

Me: Yeah I might be interested,
Bloke: Oh great! How much does your business pay for your phone contract?
Me: Just under £2.50p all in all and I have a new phone given to me once a month
Bloke: Aaahhh, Right... ok.......

The call usually ends their with them just saying ok nevermind bye or sometimes they just cut me off, one of the times the bloke just chuckled and said ok bye. So he must have known what I was getting at LOL. I think the name of the annoying mobile phone company is called Ocean mobile contracts or something like that. A mate of mine from work also plays the same trick where he sounds like he is really interested on the phone and then goes oh hang on a minute il be back in just one sec someone is at the door, and he leaves the phone on the side and goes off to do something else. He said a lot of the time they hang up after a couple of mins but one of the calls, the other bloke was still there after 30 minutes LOL and he continued talking again as if he was interested and then he interrupted again and said he would be back in a min, left it another 15 minutes and he was still there rofl! The last time (phone call was well over 45 mins by this point) my mate acted as if he was still interested and then he appologised and said someone is at the door again and the other guy on the phone got annoyed and hung up lmao. It is also always a good idea to go to that whocallsme website and put a phone number that you are not firmilular with in there and read posts from other people who have had the same phone calls as you.

The most a call can cost is £1.50 a minute.

I've still got the recording of it on my answering machine... :D They called earlier, good job I didn't hit 6!

Try being here.
For the past 6 years I have been getting calls from Sky asking if there is a mrs XXXX here. The call originates from debt collectors / chasers. No matter how many times (6 years remember!) I tell them where to go they still seem to phone once every 2-3 weeks. Different company everytime. I have tried polite, and that gets you nowhere, telling them exactly what they can do with their phone seems to yield the best results.

The phone number I have is NOT the same phone number for the house that this person lives in. I have tried writing letters to Sky (I am a sky subscriber!), I have tried phoning them (We will put a note on the account sir). Nothing has been done. Only thing I can do is to change my phone number. Its absolutely ridiculous.

The last phonecall was 4 weeks ago, so I am expecting another any time now. In it the 'person' on the other end actually tried reasoning with me. Well, all I can say is Red Mist . . . .

I normally pass them on to my 2 year old son who's quite happy to babble on.. They normally ask him if he is the house owner :D

That is classic :D

I once had a double glazing one and they thought I was my father (homeowner).

Them: What type of house do you live in sir, detached or a semi?
Me: Detached.
Them: How many windows approximately?
Me: None, I live in a wooden shed on an alotment.
Them: Err....... erm... thank you for your time sir
*Hangs up*

just say "I'm sorry they died, then a week later I moved in"

have done that a few times

Not calling you a Liar but are you sure this isnt just true of UK numbers? we had a letter warning of us calls that cost up to £50 for a few minute call

You can't connect to premium numbers in the USA or anywhere else, premium numbers generally only work nationally.

I just have one standard response to all cold callers. I tell them that I rent the house (a lie) and have no control over utilities etc (another lie). They usually can't get off the phone fast enough.

I do this becuase my wife used to work in telesales years ago and I remember how much it used to cut her up when she got a gob-full for trying to earn money to pay her way through uni. Be nice, its just their job.

Hah we had one of these come through on the phone in a meeting room at work. I think we were all surprised that phone was even connected to the outside world.
