Hey all.

I have 4 wisdom teeth. The top two came through fine - The gumes were a little bit sore but that was as expected. When the one on the bottom left came through it got a bit infected and swelled up a bit. It really hurt.
Now the lower right is coming through and the pain is quite intense. Without ibuprofen I would not sleep!
The dentist cannot remove any of the teeth due to the 'NICE' regulations that ban him from removing perfectly good wisdom teeth.

Anyone else had issue with their wisdom teeth coming through?

Mine came through with hardly any pain......one began to push and wear a hole in the bottom of on the molar next to it and was getting quite painful and it was easier to pull that molar out myself than see a dentist or risk it getting worse and infected.

No pain when mine came through, but they weren't very strong, and all cracked, splintered etc and had to be removed. That didn't hurt either although the crunching noise/feel wasn't pleasant.

I had all four of mine yanked out in one go - two had broken the surface but the other two had to be dug out. I had local anaesthetic along with sedation - I can't really remember much of the op, but I do know that I couldn't open my mouth much more than a slit for the next few days and the pain after the local wore off was awful.

My bottem two are almost through now but my gum around it is abit soar at the moment :( cant say ive had any proper pain

I had to go to hospital to get all 4 removed at once. They were impacted, which means growing sideways basically. It wasn't good. I couldn't eat for ages after and had stitches. Bad times.

I have 3 left. I went to my dentist with a broken premolar and they said I had a broken wisdom tooth as well... wasn't giving me any pain but had to have it pulled.

Had a lower molar taken out last week because I had broken it. Got a nice big hole in my gum now for a few weeks. Generally speaking with wisdom teeth you're going to have 3x molars which is just too many for most people. Get them removed, it's (relatively) painless compared to toothache. You should be able to get them removed if you go to a hospital for general anaesthesia - sidesteps your dentist.

You can stack Ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory which will be the most effective for your pain, which is probably your nerve root being swollen/inflamed/infected) and ordinary paracetamol for pain-relief.

Three remaining. I had one taken out about six years ago. Apparently, when the others come through I'll have to have them done at the hospital.

They should genetically alter these pointless objects to never grow from birth.

They did, then modern medicine intervened.
If we didn't save people from the infection by removal or by giving antibiotics, then folks would die off much younger, and as such humans would have less teeth.
Around 30% of wisdom teeth do not form now in the caucasian population. They tend to have smaller lower jaws, and the teeth were adapting albeit slowly to not form either.
Then modern medicine intervened.

Lucky man, wisdom teeth are the bane of my life, it is rare for they not to cause some issues eventually, be it decay, or infection around he gums, or worse food trapping leading to damage of the perfectly good tooth in front.

I've got all four.

Lower set hurt like a ****** when they came through, but that was about fifteen years ago, and no problems since.

Lower right is nearly all out. No pain at all.

Top left is all visable, just not the right height yet. I think one part of it cracked, as I used to feel something in the middle of the tooth. Now its not there anymore, and instead of having 4 pointy buts, it has 3. Once again, no pain though.

Might be no pain because I had removed 2 teeth on my lower jaw. These teeth were still baby teeth and they had no permanent teeth underneath (was born without them). Still didn't fit the fake ones, so maybe those moved, so I had no pain.

Bottom left seems like it will start popping out soon. Top right is not even close.

I had one bottom one come through with no sign of the others at all.

My gum was very sore on a couple of occasions, and my dentist said if keeps getting infected it'll have to come out. It's been fine for the best past of a year now, so I'm hoping I'm over it now.
