Anyone else got wisdom teeth?

Mine move a bit every so often and cause me discomfort. Top right and bottom left came through fine but bottom right caused me issues the other month. There is not much room for it and I ended up on antibiotics. I got told the same thing though, he wouldn't remove it until it had caused problems like that 3 times. This is because there is some major nerve that runs underneath it that could affect my speech if accidently hit during the op.

I had to have a few x-rays taken while in secondary school, to find out why I still had some of my "milk teeth", I didn't have a second set growing in some places.

So I still have "milk" teeth in some spots & will never have wisdom teeth.

Wow, that's unusual. Did they find out why? Or is it just one of those things?

Strangely my wisdom teeth grew very early (I think I was 21) and without any pain, though I did have one removed as it was growing sideways into another tooth.

Top or bottom milk teeth? That is what I have.

If they are bottom like mine, you need to get them removed asap. The mature teeth will cave in, and the milk tooth will be buried in the gum. Then its a pain to take out. Apart from that, the tooth sitting just over, on the top jaw will keep growing (like a vampire :p) as they have nothing to stop them growing longer.

All 4 removed before they had the chance to bother me ! Apparently I have a small mouth so the wisdom teeth were right under the molars. Best was to take them off

Mine came through with hardly any pain......one began to push and wear a hole in the bottom of on the molar next to it and was getting quite painful and it was easier to pull that molar out myself than see a dentist or risk it getting worse and infected.

How the hell did you do that? Sounds awful...my nan joked about pulling on of her teeth out the other day, but she's probably serious!

OP, all 4 of mine came through when I was about 19, 3 were impacted so I had them all removed :) Never really had any pain and the operation was fine, as was the recovery.

probably about once a year they give me stick, and back in january i got an infected gum where they went ballistic... i was on antibiotics for a week and had to get an xray to see if they were growing at a funny angle, potentially would have needed them out. suffice to say, the sods are still in, but i'm hoping if it gets infected again the dentist will just pull the suckers :p

Two of mine came through at 16, and the other two didn't come through properly until last year. I had to have them removed with sedation a few months ago as they came through all funny.

My top two came through OK but my bottom left one became very susceptible to infection so had to go to the dental hospital and have it out. The dentist asked me if I had issues with the bottom right one, which I didn't (yet?), but advised I should tell the hospital I did so they would extract it at the same time. I appreciate treatment like that, saves everyone time and money. :)

The healing process was fine on one, on the other it was agony as it got infected and took longer to heal. They had to cut away a lot of soft tissue to get them so it was pretty raw and uncomfortable for a while.

My dentist at the time, was telling me that I was from a higher evolutionary plane as there is less need for two sets of teeth. I was 13 or so at the time so he might not have been telling me the real reason or I might just have forgotten as that sounds much better:D

He wasn't concerned about it though after looking at the x-rays and finding I had nothing growing underneath.

I got all four in my late teens - tops came through 100% fine, but the bottom came through at a funny angle compared the rest and not up to the same level.

No pain with any of them, and they fit fine - but I did have teeth out for braces when I was young.

I've had 3 out now over the last 2 years or so with the most recent one on Thursday, all 3 of them had come in at the worst angle possible and just wanted to agro the rest of my mouth. The other one hopefully shouldn't cause too many problems, have to wait and see though.

What is the point of wisdom teeth seems like a waste of time.

Likely an evolutionary item that is no longer needed.
Humans would have had bigger jaws and eaten mostly rough foods and plant material which required more chewing, especially given that we didn't use knifes and forks. The fact they come through later is also likely to be because your original teeth would be quite worn down with no dental care and given that they come through in your twenties, you would be old and wise, because you probably wouldn't live as long as we do now.

I had three come through in my late teens. Not painful really more just some discomfort and the gum felt like it was bruised until they were fully through. The fourth one never made an appearance.
