Anyone else got wisdom teeth?

I had my top ones out as they where making my jaw click, the first was easy...

The second one was hell when it came out, the dentist did the full on knee on the chest for about 20 minutes, I don't think he went to the gym that day. He then proceeded to show everyone in the surgery my mutant sideways root, he wanted to keep it, but I was having none of that, it's on a shelf now somewhere. I shall use it scare the children into brushing one day!

Sometimes it seems the horror stories are true. Luckily I'm not a nervous patient.

I still have the bottom ones in, but they're not causing any trouble so I'll leave them for now I think.

I am in the same situation now as I was when my other lower wisdom tooth came through.

Touching the gum there is agony and without Ibuprofen I cannot sleep. Wierd really as the top two wisdom teeth gave me a slightly sore gum and that was it.

As far as I know, your bottom rear-jaw has the poorest blood supply of all your gum area and so the development and healing will be slowest. I guess it goes the same with development of problems - the bottom ones will be slower and more obstinate. Conversely, your top rear molars are separated by a very thin layer of tissue from your sinuses, so can cause more problems and discomfort when being removed or worked on. So swings and roundabouts, really ;)

had all mine come though but had to have one out. The top left one came though and didn't leave much room behind to actually clean correctly so ended up rotting and breaking away (strangely no pain).

The rest are fine mostly although there all partially impacted. Only issue they give me is when I open my mouth really wide they displace my lower jaw slightly.

Mine was growing into the tooth in front of it so it had to be removed .... opted for a local and had the pleasure of seeing all the tools required for it's removal wafted infront of my face. First he drilled a hole in it then used a tapered screw on the end of a long bar with a large handle on the end ..... this was then screwed into the hole, acting like a wedge, which eventually shattered the tooth :)

Worst thing for me was I had to go straight home from the hospital and sell my motorbike to a guy who'd traveled a fair distance, couldn't really turn him away ..... he bought the bike after watching me spit blood on the drive for an hour ..... funny when i think back :D

I had a dentigerous cyst with my wisdom tooth on it's way to my lower jaw. Luckily my dentist spotted it on an x-ray and I had it removed along with my other molars in the area. Surgeon said that I was very lucky that I'd not been biting into anything which may have caused my jaw to snap!
