Anyone else hate car hunting?

Except it puts nothing on your dashboard (only the eject box under the armrest on the E46), the sound quality (especially on the outgoing sound) is far better than a Nokia car kit, and if you have navigation it integrates very nicely. It also gives you voice control which is just cool.

Yea and if you have an M3 it even goes fast, and thats also about as dooable on Tom's budget ;)

Why are you so cut up about xenons anyway?

Sure they are better, but unless you are driving more in the dark than in daylight, down roads that are completely unlit, why be so fussed?

Because they're a lot better than halogens, I'd never buy a car without HID's again. In the E46 they're a pain to retrofit, involving running new wiring to the LCM and reprogramming it etc. to do the job properly.

given for 6 months of the year it's dark when i go to work, dark when i come home, dark when i go out and i live in the middle of a network of unlit NSL roads....it's pretty often i drive in the dark yes.

Oxymoron no?

If there aren't any for your budget, your budget is a problem.

no........it's finding one full stop that's the problem irrelevent of budget. The ones that crop up with the right spec often DO fall into budget, so i stand by the fact that my budget isnt the problem

Just did an Autotrader search for 3 litre petrol 3 Series 0-7 years old with manual gearbox and Xenons.

16 results. And 10 are E90's, 1 is an SMG, 1 is prefacelift, 4 are more than £10k and the other 2 don't have nav.

Same criteria but Bluetooth instead of Xenons yields 2 E46's.

I really like my alcantara. It isnt cold in the winter, nor is it slippy when hot and sweaty! :p

Just be aware that a 2001 car (maybe a 2002 car too?) will have the satnav with the mega-small screen that just has directions on it, but no maps. Like mine. This may not be what you are after...esp as it comes with a tape player too.....

it has to be the one with 16:9 dont worry :)

The 16:9 is only fitted to be very later models - so you really arent looking for 2001-2005, more like 2003-2005. :)

ive seen at least 3 2002s with it ;) ive only seen one facelift with the strange small screen and that was a 2005

thats the wrecked one i went to look at the other day, 02 plate. Nearly bought an SMG one that was in really good nick but i was put off by the gearbox, and that was an 02 with 16:9, and i test drove a 52 plate coupe with sat nav to see if i liked the smg box and that was also 16:9....

just actually checked....there hasnt been a 330i manaul sport added to autotrader for 13 days! of ANY variety :|
