Anyone else like it when...

Perhaps it's the word "charisma" that's making me rebel against it. It conjures up images of perfect white teeth, slicked back hair, year round tan and false promises. "Engaging" would be a better word. I can see that if someone was engaging and informed rather than just informed they'd have more success.

In all honesty charisma is a perfectly good word for it. The meaning of the word is just right for the context. In fact it's wrong to say charisma is white teeth and slicked back hair, orange tan and false promises. They might be what a charismatic con-man is like to you... and they don't preclude it.

The problem seems to be their misinterpretation of the word, rather than it's actual misuse.

Isn't it against the law to criticise Stephen Hawking? If not it damn well should be.

I'm not criticising him I'm merely stating it's more or less impossible for him to have charisma.

Good luck trying to explain how a man who is severely disabled and can not show expression in his face or voice has more charisma than that girl in the video. God help her if she reads your comments.

He's got considerably more charisma than her. It's something most people gain with age and experience, she's got all the charisma the extra attention being pretty with a couple of fake **** buys her. Perhaps over time she will gain charisma.

It doesn't mean what you think it means - it doesn't mean attractiveness, at least not directly.

WOW, so now you have automatically assumed her breasts are fake from the video as well.

They're fake. They 'bubble up'.

I think you'll find there's bras out there that do that. I'm not trying to rescue anyone but some of the comments on here are bordering on personal insults towards other members.

She seems like an honest sort and she's improving as she goes. I get the impression from some comments on here that they don't like females encroaching on what they see as their domain and that she can't possibly be as knowledgeable as they profess to be.

It was a minor point and you've rushed to her defence. Shrug.

Back to the point... you don't seem to understand what charisma means. It does not mean how comely someone is. It does not mean how well they annunciate. Hawking has charisma in spades. Carl Sagan had an irritating voice, his timing was very poor yet he enthralled millions of people and produced a captivating TV series. That's charisma.

Well, good luck to her. I'm just conscious that she's another pretty girl people are fawning over and rushing to defend. I don't give a stuff that she's a pretty girl - but she obviously does, you think she's got her **** half out for any reason other than making her videos popular? I don't know if you remember topless news on Live TV many years ago, but that wasn't popular for the news quality.

If it was a minor point then why bother bringing it up.

I don't believe they attract millions through their charisma, they did it through being a well known name and they didn't become big names by having good charisma they did this through being phenomenally intelligent.

It was a minor point that you brought up. In fact it was your entire response to my post.

They are/were phenomenally intelligent and had charisma. I think you underestimate it's importance - and it's belittling of you to criticise Hawking for having no charisma, just because he uses a computer to speak.

I'm not belittling him at all. It's just very easy to see he doesn't have charisma. Being incredibly intelligent isn't enough to have great charisma.

I don't think you understand what charisma means. It is a personality trait. It is not based on your achievements.
