Anyone else not a big drinker?

When I was 15 years old i thought it was cool to get hammered, after feeling the after effects of hangover and realising I was actually being more unsocial when hammered I decided by the age of 16 that I will always only drink just enough to be merry.
Apart from the very rare occasion I never get drunk now, I believe one of the reasons people drink is to loosen up and if you don't need to drink anything then you are a better man for it. I still need to have drinks to loosen up at the momeny, but in a year or two I hope to be socially comfortable enough not to need to.

erm not relally a big drinker, but i just kinda drunk a whole bottle of wine to myself  :D

and some vodka too :o

Sometimes I have a bottle of mulled wine to myself, though I don't consider it big drinking because it only gets me tipsy and I drink it for taste :)

Then again mulled wine is very weak I think so not really a big deal.

I dont even drink! I think alcohol is over-rated and the need to get harmmered is a yob-culture and a cancer on our society.

I drink on nights out. I drink sensible amounts these days (binge drinking is only cool when you are 17). To those who don't and still enjoy themselves good for you.

What does annoy me though is I have a couple of mates who think they are somehow 'better' than me because they don't drink.

Technically, they might have a point - a healthier liver! :D

Depending on how much the person in question who drinks, drinks they might not have any point at all. It has been proven that alcohol in moderation (like most things) can lead to a healthier body overall and reduce the risk of heart disease etc. It might also depend on what you drink and how long the period is when it is consumed but to put down a blanket statement of "all drinking is bad" is equally as stupid as saying "all drinking is great".

Morons exist on both sides of the drinking divide and either side preaching sounds just as stupid.

There were some studies done (can't remember exactly) that if you drink a pint a day then you'd be much healthier than the person who doesn't. Something to do with your insides and making you regular etc.

A research funded by "Pub association of england and Greater manchester" :p Seriously what you said is true but i would still prefer not to drink.

Its not the Alcohole, its the resy of the stuff inside the beer or wine that does it :)

You can get the same effecr from drinking just normal ol grape juice.

God knows what you could replace beer with though :p

I dont drink either, i just dont like the taste and can't see the fun in making myself be sick :o

If i go out on the town (rare) i drink orange reef or WKD or Smurnoffice and things like that.

Let me play the devil's advocate here

Cancer and alcohol...some evidence

Benefits of wine against cancer

I have loads of up to date info from my hand out but i cant be bothered going to look for it.

I find not drinking has helped me in other ways too.

The only real friends I have now are those who either don't drink, or drink properly and sensibly. By not drinking i've filtered out those who like to "get drunk and smash stuff up" amongst other things. And those are the kind I really did want to get away from.

I don't begrudge anyone who drinks, it's when it goes to their head and they feel the need to start a fight "for the hell of it" that it bothers me.

Im 19 , Love to go out get hammered go clubbing etc etc ! Its VERY VERY rare you will find me in on a friday and saturday and if i have to not drink say if everyone is going to a club i wont go because ill find it boring !

I'm kinda like that and I'm 17.All of my mates on a Friday Night will go to other peoples house to get hammered whilst I dont really wanna drink. Don't see the big deal in getting hammered. I can have fun without being drunk.

You basically summed it up for me man, Im 16 but other than that I feel exactly the same. I dont really like alcohol but then again I guess Im a bit young to really know :)

Just wondering what do other young people do on their Friday and Saturday nights instead of getting themselves stupidly drunk like most other people our age? I need inspiration :) At the moment its just PC or TV or M8's for me.

When I was 17/18 me and most of my mates had cars and were really into them, so used to hang around and drive everywhere. Loved it! there must have been 6-7 of us who used to meet every night. Never used to cause any problems or anything.
If we wernt driving around we used to meet round a mates or at a pub (had a coke ;) )and just chilled out.

No word of a lie, must have been out every night of the week with mates doing something.

I agree with you there! I don't drink, or go out clubbing and im 22. The reason is because of my religious beliefs! People at work are constantly going on about how they got hammered bla blah and I think its pretty sad really.

Its obvious that the WKD and other drinks are there just to get rat arsed cause its just fruit juice with the added effect of getting drunk.
