Anyone else not a big drinker?

I don't drink alcohol at all. Lots of people think i'm weird but it has never interested me and as far as I can see i'm really not missing out on anything. I'm also one of these people that hates pubs and clubs and things like that which I suppose is unusual for a 19 year old student but i'm happy enough being like that.

Hardly drink at all now (27yr old), same with my mrs

Used to party and drink quite a bit from 17-23ish, now I drink on very rare occasions

Reasons: I get very bored, very quickly when I am in the company of drunk people, usually when I go out it's either a case of catch up or stay sober as my circle of friends still drink a lot and act like they're all 17-23 lol :D

Also get killer hangovers these days which knock me out for an entire day so it isn't worth it for me

Im not a big drinker but ive been out on what could be considered to be a session today with my mates. We went out on the town at 1pm and retired to a local pub at 7pm and I got back home at 11pm. And in this time I have consumed 8 pints of larger not got hammered, not been sick, not started one fight and will not have a hangover tomorrow.

Anyway my point is contrary to what the “ocuk more righteous than thou” crowd might have you believe you don’t have to be an antisocial, drunken, loutish, wife beating chav to enjoy a day out on the beer with you friends. A night or day out in the pub can just be a setting to catch up and socialise with friends and a few hours away from the day to day monotony of work, bills and general stress.

Never drink really. Been drunk twice in my life. Im 17. One of which was my freinds 18th on Saturday.

Dont see the need to drink and get drunk. Can have much more fun being sober. Most drinks I dont like the taste of most drinks any way. Only like Cider, I hate beer and lager. Some spirits I like e.g Martini.

Loads of people ask my why I never drink and theres really no reason, just other than I'm not really bothered by it.
I can have a good time without it even when all my mates are all ****** up and I'm not.

I too don't drink and i feel im a better person for it totally clean cut never smoked not drank a lot and never touched any drugs, whats the point i don't need to drink to feel socially accepted, all it helps with is to make a prat out of myself plus im better finacially while most of my mates come into college with mega hangovers and broke i come in perfectly better off with cash in my wallet :D

That's exactly what I'm like at the moment. I'm 16 and I don't drink (got drunk once two years ago, hated it), don't smoke as the smell is disgusting and it's extremely bad for your health, and I never let anyone make me feel bad about it. :)

In the near future you will love a good pint with your sunday roast! :D

You guys must be high on sugar! j/k

I go out and get hammered, but always make sure to pay taxis and throwing up is not fun. Just needs to learn when to stop.
Steve, my flatmate, thinks this is funny. At least twice he's done the runner from the taxi. Last time he did this, he was running from £8. Now in Manchester £8 is what two or three drinks? He even emailed me to say he'd done this, as if it was bloke-ish or something. Frankly I think its pathetic, these taxi drivers are working long hours during the night and to have some cocky 21 year old Uni student think its funny to run rather than pay up is utterly immature.

I got drunk on my 21st, came home, threw up, went to sleep, woke up and cleaned up. That was the last time I was seriously drunk yet my flatmate considers it his duty to get me out and drunk, why? Just so someone else is being pathetic with him.

Sooner or later the taxi drivers will get him. I mean they're dropping him off at a Uni block of flats, all they have to do is describe him to the security guards who have pictures of us and he's done for.

Anyway, just back from working a 7pm-1am shift at the pub and there will be a few people nursing hangovers later today in Leighton Buzzard I can tell you.

Didn't drink til I was 20. I caught up fairly quick though :/

Me and my fiancee decided to almost entirely stop drinking during the week as we were sinking far too much drink just... because. Now we almost exclusively drink at the weekends/special occasions, and will only very occasionally have a tipple during the week. Much better that way.

There is no way I could dance without being drunk so it's necessary for my enjoyment. I know when to stop though. I just find you have a better night when you've had a few drinks. Everyone loosens up, has a laugh and you have an excuse for any stupid stuff you may do.

Provided you don't waste vast amounts of money, or get violent or violently ill I see no problem with it.

That's one thing I never get the benefit of. A lot of people say it helps their self confidence, being drunk. But I'm quite self confident as it is. I'll happily make an arse out of myself and not think twice about it when I'm sober. :)

I have to say I do like a good drink from time to time. I'm only 17 at the mo' but I find the most interesting thing is trying out the different types of alcohol available as unlike most people my age, I do like the taste of alcohol and not just the effects.

I used to think I was the big man when I was 15/16 and I would spend a lot of the time in the pub or in friend's houses getting ****** but just came to realise that it's pointless.

Exactly my point :)

Don't spend a penny on beer throughout Uni, buy car instead :D

Nice Teg, btw :D Bet its more fun than Stella.

bloody hell, how much do you think we actually spend on drink? I know your a student fox, and around here the union charges 1.55 a pint - never spend more than £20 :) and if I fancy getting wasted then I'll buy some cheap wine or vodka to drink beforehand.

I'm not really fussed about drink either. I've never been too keen on the taste of most drinks and usually only drink Hoegarrden but as very few pubs have it, I tend to stick to coke.

I'm the same mate. I used to drink in the first year at uni, just because I thought it was the right thing to do (peer pressure I guess?) but I've never liked it, either the taste or just the feeling of getting drunk. I realised this at the end of my first uni at uni and so just stopped drinking.

I was exactly the same actually. Never really drank before I went to uni and gave up after my first year. I guess it's the environment your in, you do feel quite pressured into the drinking culture that’s going on. I don't even go out to the pub with my mates anymore it's just constant nagging to have a drink and be sociable. I've given up trying to explain you don't need to drink to be sociable, wasting my breath. :(
