Anyone else not bothered with next-gen yet?

Buying a next-gen games console seems silly at the moment expensive. I seem to hang back a generation and play great games for relative pennies. Does anyone else do this?

Next gen? I know what you mean but its current gen.

And I also know what you mean by the lack of "holy crap new console" is out feeling.

PS3 with PS+ is all you need if you aren't into any of the new games.... but then agian, GTA5 is coming out soon.

There's some amazing Xbox One deals going around at the moment, I don't think it's expensive at all. I can't speak for PS4 but I imagine it's the same case for it as well.

My Xbox has been an absolute steal when you factor in the countless hours I've got out of it, not just from gaming but also using as a media player for live TV, netflix, on demand, etc, even though it cost me £400 and only included one game when I bought it 6 months ago.

I class Wii U as next gen. Fully serious too. As for XBone or PS4, nope. No killer apps for me yet.

But my PS3 does netflix and on-demand TV already. So it's currently £400 for bonus game playing powahs.

Other than Bayonetta 2, not too many games appeal. I'm not buying a whole console just to play Mario.

Well, it's not £400 now anyway (for Xbox at least, that was just how much it was when I paid for it). If there's not enough games to peak your interest yet then don't bother. Personally for me there was more than enough reason to get one.

There are quite a few bundles out right now and they can be had around £250 if you can be bothered to sell the games. And Forza 2 Horizon gives me that Holy Crap next gen moment.

This is taken in game.

The thing is, most of them are held back due to cross generation. The really good stuff won't be out until next year.

I actually think right now is a brilliant time to be buying, nice selection of games, loads more AAA big hitters coming out in a few weeks to a few months.

Brilliant bundles on offer, prices cut. For around £350 there are some epic bundles about.

I don't rate any of the 'new' consoles at all. They're meant to last five years at least but struggle to do even 1080p let alone 4k. I built a SteamBox for a shade under £500 and, although a smidgin more expensive, it will last me a lot longer and has better games available for it.

I would not consider them too expensive now, Ive seen ps4's go for near £250 and Xb One around £280

And the console bargains thread will more than likely find something cheaper as well as games at some point.

But i would agree that the games are now massively cheaper for the last set of consoles. But i don't personally mind the investment of a little more expensive games for a " better experience "

EDIT : I sold my high end system down to the fact i found myself on the ps4 a lot more and enjoying myself more whilst doing so. The only thing i have missed is Steam. It didn't take more than a week to acclimatise to 30/60 fps and lower settings. Im just enjoying playing the games :D

That is a couple of hundred pounds more, not exactly a smidgin :p

I'm a big fan of Halo and Forza so I bought a Xbone also a fan of Killzone and Gran Turimo so bought a PS4. Without meaning to sound big headed I also bought a Wii U for those magical Nintendo games.

Owning a decent PC I obviously buy all the none exclusives I want on that as PC is simply the best platform for many reasons. But I am getting fed up of having to buy a new console just to play a particular franchise I enjoy especially when said consoles are just really mid to low end PC's in disguise!

In a perfect world all I'd need to play every game I wanted would be my PC and of cause a Nintendo for Nintendo games.

Please Devs stop making exclusives!!!

I really want a Wii U for Zelda, it's not even about the money as it's basically the price of 4 games but 3 consoles seems a bit much ? Lol

Yeah not enough good games out atm for me, but I know that will change. I'll probably make the dive next year.

Nintendo should do everyone else a favour, especially their core fans, and stick to software.

In a way, I think they would make a lot more money, R&D for a console can't be cheap, with all the PR costs and high manufacturing costs. And the possibility of selling games on multi platforms...imagine tapping into the user base for PS4 and XB1 together.
