Anyone else not bothered with next-gen yet?

I hope Nintendo do not do that ever. Otherwise we'll have more lacklustre updates of PS and XBOX to not look forward too.
Since buying my PS4 I have bought one title that was available on "last gen" (AC IV), one remake of a title on last gen (Tomb Raider), Watchdogs that was available on last gen and soon GTA V.
I could easily have waited a year in hindsight but nothing gets me excited like a new console, no matter how uninspiring it may be.

Nintendo has some very high 'ethics' when it comes to gaming though, they will not release a game if it's not ready. They do not produce rubbish, or at least not overly so. Certianly not to the extend that you see on the PS/MS side. I really do beleive the Wii U is Nintendo's greatest console.

It has very select games, which are just second to none. I can't put Mario Kart 8 down and I'm barely even a gamer, plowing 40+ hours into it in the past couple of weeks.

Putting these games on other consoles is not what Nintendo is all about, plus they are still a bit butt hurt by Sony and I could never see them allowing Sony increased revenue with Mario.

I will buy a PS4 in the future though, but at the moment it provides nothing for me.
 
I haven't bothered with a Wii U, Xbox One or PS4 yet, even if I had the spare cash I don't think I'd bother. Not really into the Forza or Halo series of games, the PS4 doesn't have anything I want at the moment and I've never been a big Mario fan. When Uncharted 4 comes out I'd pick a PS4 up, I've played GTA V on PS3 already but I'll probably end up buying it again on PC, other than that I'm quite happy with my PS3.
 
For me The Last of Us Remastered was pretty damn awesome, other than that nothing else has really made me go wow.

Hopefully GTA 5 will do that :D
 
I'd rather Sony and Microsoft stop making consoles than Nintendo, there's a certain assured quality of a Nintendo game running on Nintendo hardware that I just don't think would work any other way. Imagine MK8 multiplayer running on PSN with all the problems that suffers, would certainly take away the magic.

On the other hand what if MS and Sony stopped making consoles. Steam could come in with a capable £400 PC based console to bridge the traditional console to PC gap and Devs could release their franchises i.e. Forza to PC and we'd all be winners :)

Sadly, it'll never happen you just have to look at the sales figures. Most people buy these to fit in with their friends, my sisters boyfriend bought one because his mates play it. He has little to no intrest in gaming.

The intrest in a steam box is very niche sadly.

They're both within their first year of release. Look at games that came out on 360/PS3 in the first year, compared to games that came out in the last year. I really don't see 1080p being a massive issue for games further down the line. Not that I care, I only have a 720p TV, but even if I didn't I doubt I'd notice the the difference between a game running 900p and 1080p. I care about gameplay more than I care about resolution.
 
The problem is that you're comparing console hardware that had to be "learned" as opposed to what is essentially a PC - from a development point of view the "next gen console" hardware is far, far more mature than the PS3 and 360 ever were.
 
Not really but I'm bored of the current games, it's either another franchise release like cod or a rehash of a last gen game and most of the new games are either over hyped or broken on release.
I will still buy some of these games just to get some use out of the console, I'm sure next year will be a lot better for both consoles.

That wouldn't work, the only reason exclusive franchises exist is because Sony, MS etc invested money in the developers in order make games that will sell the hardware.

Yes but the idea came from an individual or a group, if Sony or MS didn't exist doesn't mean the idea I.e. Forza would've.

Games are big business and possibly there would be incentive enough for companies like these to develop games even without hardware like Sega did. Don't forget Microsoft which is a huge company made its billions and name with software.

Sure, but it's MS, Sony etc who provide the money when it comes to exclusives and evidently that matters a lot otherwise developers wouldn't be doing it. Having a single hardware platform wouldn't make things better for gamers, let alone one operated by Steam.

But you're not really offering any possible explanation as to why Sony or MS would, of their own volition, relinquish their success in the console hardware market in order to solely develop/publish games for a platform operated by another company entirely.

Sega's only incentive was survival. They couldn't sell their hardware any more so they had to fall back on software.
 
Only reason I went "next gen" was because I have loads of mates who I can have a good time with, and they all bought PS4s, so in order to continue enjoying the good times, I had to buy one.
 
I'm very, very interested in buying a PS4 and Xbox One but like a few other people, am not in a hurry to do so yet. I have a huge backlog for both PS3 and Xbox 360. What keeps me from taking the plunge to move forward are the regular sales on PSN. The prices are often really good and my backlog just keeps growing.
 
I'm on the start blocks for a PS4 but have been waiting for a decent set of games to make me want it, GTA V looks like the one that will push me over the edge at Christmas but till now there just doesn't seem to have been a game that made me want it.
Currently I don't plan to get rid of the PS3 when I finally buy the PS4.
 
I am trading in my 360 for a PS4 on Friday in anticipation of GTA V on Tuesday and I can't bloody well wait, before GTA though I couldn't give a monkeys about "next Gen" consoles.
 
As a PC gamers point of view, the only console I own is a Wii U. I have all the shooters I could ever want on steam and sadly, there is nothing enticing me towards an xbone or a ps4.

There are no Nintendo games on Steam which is mainly where Nintendo have me. Sure there is Lego and possibly some other platformers, but they don't have anywhere near as appealing as playing a Mario game or anything first party.

Maybe when Halo comes out I might get an Xbox as I like that series, but even then, one game usually isn't enough for me to say yes.

I bought my 360 for GTA V and Forza and my PS3 for Demon Souls and God of War. Mainly more than one exclusive.
 
I bought a PS4 (bundled with Destiny) at the end of September ready for the release of FIFA 15. So far, those are the only two "next-gen" games that I own, having played The Last of Us and Tomb Raider on PS3.

There really isn't anything else that appeals to me, although I considered AC4 when it was on offer for 20GBP. Right now Tomb Raider is on offer but having completed it on PS3 (PS+ free game) I don't really see the point just for nicer visuals. Although the fact that I am tempted just shows how limited the selection is.

GTAV (another game completed on PS3) is the next game I'm actually looking forward to (pre-ordered).
 
The hardwares out dated already...if only someone would make a gaming o/s for PCs we'd get the best of both :(
