Anyone else not bothered with next-gen yet?

The price was the biggest factor putting me off but after I sold my 360 for £100 last week and bought the Xbox One for £329 with one game, it didn't seem so bad. A year from now the current gen might be £280 but the 360 and PS3 will be next to worthless.

Outdated compared to a platform that get's hardware updates every few months? Shocking.

Don't shoot the messenger :P

Other than Off TV play which would be non existent or worse, what have Nintendo done on the Wii U that they couldn't do on the PS4/XB1 with a Gamepad controller sold separately for those consoles?

Games that support the Wii u gamepad are great you need to play it to see for yourself its just now off TV play. You buy a Wii u to play Nintendo games they have the strongest 1st party IP out of all three consoles, I don't own myself but plan on getting in the next few months a lot of their games are just to good to miss.

I was very underwhelmed by the ps4 when i played it at a friends house granted i only played a handful of games but i noticed a few suffered from bad frame rates plus i couldn't believe the cost of new games.

I think a true next gen console should be able to handle 1080 p at 60 fps.

I have a Wii U, which Nintendo first party games make decent use of the Gamepad? Hyrule warriors, Mario Kart, 3D World, Smash Bros, Mario Bros U, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze all make barely any use of the Gamepad, Wind Waker HD makes okay use of the Gamepad, but hardly justifies its existence in the same way that Wii Sports did for the Wii Remote.

Outdated compared to what?

The tech was old when released.

Granted they wouldn't be £400 if they had the latest hardware but already devs are making sacrifices to either hit 1080p or 60fps. This means yet again pushing gaming on will be stalled.

There is no learning this time as it's common architecture in use, things will improve slightly but people will be in for a shock when those improvements aren't as obvious as they were in the life span of the PS3.

People say its no big deal but 1080p and 60fps is dated anyway, to not be hitting these as a minimum is poor.

The new consoles aren't bad, far from it for the money. I just dread to think they will still be in use for as long as the last gen were.

I got my ps4 + game + ps+ free on my mobile phone contract. Taking off the value of the phone and the ps4, the contract works out a fair bit cheaper than the Sim only equivalent.

That was the only reason I got one though, however now I have it I am really enjoying this gen and have been gaming like I am 10 years younger.

Only played it at friends house zombie u and a party game forgot it's name made great use I think it was Nintendo land or wii play. The idea is good just not many developers utilzing it.. If they made the console as powerful as xbone or ps4, and gave it wii remote & pro controller it would have been much better.

Have you played a Wii U?
No.

Nintendo has some very high 'ethics' when it comes to gaming though, they will not release a game if it's not ready. They do not produce rubbish, or at least not overly so. Certianly not to the extend that you see on the PS/MS side. I really do beleive the Wii U is Nintendo's greatest console.

It has very select games, which are just second to none. I can't put Mario Kart 8 down and I'm barely even a gamer, plowing 40+ hours into it in the past couple of weeks.

Putting these games on other consoles is not what Nintendo is all about, plus they are still a bit butt hurt by Sony and I could never see them allowing Sony increased revenue with Mario.

I will buy a PS4 in the future though, but at the moment it provides nothing for me.
The only Nintendo games that I would plough hours into is Zelda, Mario and Metroid. Two of those aren't out yet. I don't tend to play local multiplayer so there is very limited appeal in Smash Brothers or Mario Kart. So in short, I'm the least interested in the Wii U.

Zelda and Mario are out on the Wii U. I am also unsurprised that you haven't played one.

Nope, the 3DS is fun. The PS Vita, just a portable indi games machine. Nintendo are fine where they are.

The Vita isn't "just a portable indie games machine" at all. There are plenty of exclusives on it that are very good, and its crossover with the bigger Sony consoles is great.

The point of the 3DS and Vita is to play the games you're interested in playing, which is why I have both of them.

Mario is. By all means, point out the new Zelda game! I'm not interested in paying to play something I already own. Similarly, Hyrule Warriors isn't a true Zelda game, is it?

Edit: we also know that the true Mario on Wii U is Super Mario 3D World.

I'm responding to what you said specifcally. The Wind Waker HD is a Zelda game that is out on the Wii U. I'm not sure what you mean about the "true" Mario on the Wii U.

It should have been pretty obvious that I was referring to a new Zelda game, all things considered (e.g. I referred to key Nintendo franchises and the other most popular games on the Wii U, as well as inferring some knowledge of Nintendo's history with my comment about giving up hardware). The posts from others above are testament to this :p

As for the 'true Mario' comment, I have no interest in New Super Mario Brothers U, which by comparison seems to be a relatively rushed 'get a Mario game out there' affair rather than top-shelf Nintendo.
