Anyone else running the Eurotunnel gauntlet this summer?

Motorways don't have much subtlety, they are big with high visibility a long way ahead. Crashing into stopped vehicles is the drivers fault.

The reason for there being a blocked road does not excuse the van driver for his lack of control.

Not convinced this will not make the Polish people even more entrenched about accepting more migrants, I suspect they won't be blaming the van driver's lack of attention to the road ahead, `tis human nature. Laying logs across a motorway is not the best way to get potential host countries upon one's side is it?

I came through Calais ET terminal last Saturday about 17:30 - no queues, no sign of any people or trouble. Paid £4 extra to jump on the 18:20 train (we'd booked 20:20).

If your running Calais, lock the doors and don't stop, even if you run over a migrant. The truck drivers generally don't because the migrants hang around in large gangs and it's to risky to get out at the roadside. Just pretend your driving through the zombie apocalypse.

They mostly come out at night though, mostly.

We're going back in our camper van on Saturday afternoon. Having picked up a stowaway 3 years ago we are always extra vigilant now.
We must have picked him up in the pet passport area as it's outside the secure zone. He wedged himself underneath next to the water tank, only got picked up at the last check to see if our gas tanks were turned off having been through the high security checkpoints!
Goodness knows what the outcome would have been for him if he'd not been found.

Going to France in late July and whilst I'm looking forward to the holiday, I'm not looking forward to the queues, operation stacks, train break downs, and course the delightful migrants blocking the roads and tunnels and throwing rocks at people like it was 2000BC.

Keep thinking about shelling out for that fast track banter but I'm not sure it'll actually help!

Just make sure you pack your stab vest, happy trippin'!

Keep laughing peeps. I'll check back in in mid July and we'll see who's right. Brexit immigration panic will also take hold.

Well yes, surely the Mail and Express will have lots of articles on it, like they do every year, but that doesn't necessarily affect real life. Just as the Express' weather forecasts don't.

I've had the same experience (albeit the summer before last) as most others in this thread, although I did take the ferry - next time I'll take the train as P&O don't even allow you out on deck any more :(.

I've been multiple times in July and never once, I mean not once, had an issue, been caught in tailbacks or had rocks thrown at me or vans crashing into me. But then I'm not retarded and I choose sensible low volume times to cross.

I always go through the tunnel as I hate boats because I get sea sick, so I've always gone through the tunnel. Been through it in Spring, summer, autumn and winter and never had a problem
