Anyone else with the A Level results today?

So what happens next, resit in June or say hello to the real world?

Probably resit, but we'll talk about it with the teachers tomorrow. One of the biology teachers seemed to think the paper was alright, but didn't know the mark scheme. The chemistry teacher didn't seem to be in a good mood (which is a shame because he's brilliant, would hate for him to blame himself), but seemed to be of the persuasion that something could be up with AQA.

Only one I did is general studies (Previous yeargroup all failed the january modules so our year has them all in the summer..not sure how they worked that out but hey) and I got a C.

A in the social domain, d in the scientific.

HOW DOES THAT MAKE A C :(

EDIT:
Not that I care, it's general studies..but still...

But biology... you must have really worked hard at trying to rubbish that exam!

I absolutely walked GCSE Biology, so decided to take A level and then suddenly all the wheels fell off and I just couldn't get it at all. It just wouldn't sink in, I don't know what happened.

In fact, the only subject I carried on well with was Physics. I think I messed up IT because I genuinely couldn't be bothered with it any more.

The thing about biology is that i get all the concepts when we cover them in the lesson, but there's a massive difference between understanding the subject and being able to answer exam questions. That and there's a ton of material to remember compared to the other sciences.

Same; I haven't done any modules yet though, they're all in the summer.

I'm genuinely struggling which is kinda' new.. It's just the sheer volume of junk to learn

Nigel, because those who do humanities have a massive advantage versus those doing sciences. If you are used to constructing arguments then you will do well in general studies, if you are crap at English then it's actually quite hard to do well in.

How did you manage to FAIL General Studies?!?!?

It's really easy to fail general studies.

You can get a super easy paper or a spectacularly hard one - or one that looks easy but the mark scheme's completely random.

And then there's the people that don't even turn up for the exam 'cos it's kinda' pointless...

Can people still retake stuff as much as they want?

Technically, yes.

However, most schools have realised that not funding endless resits can shave tens of thousands of pounds off their budget, and so most students have to pay for resits now.
