Anyone Else Work Weekends?

I work Fri-Mon in the fresh produce logistics sector...it's pretty cool, I'm sortof the "weekend caretaker" of a £400 million / year business. My hours are "until the work is done" so I usually work from 7:30AM to about 3:30-5PM on Saturday and Sunday...

I still get paid as though I'm full time and get 25 days holiday a year...Unfortunately I doubt I have much of a future with this company. Even though I basically cover for an office of 25 people all by myself, I fit a very specific need of the company (provide continuity between weekdays and weekends) so I can't see them offering me anything other than what I'm doing right now. I do get to Surf the 'Net for about 3 hours a day on the weekend though...

I do got a nice little 10 till 4ish shift tonight working a live band night and a private party at the union, luckily i know a lot of people heading to the private party so there shouldnt be much trouble and il get to stand around and chat

Currently in the office and will be for all the weekend, have to finish a fair amount of work before I go on holiday on Tuesday, its a bit annoying tho as it has only come to this due to another project going ass up and everyone being shifted to cover it.

ah well never mind, I go on holiday on Tuesday :D

I work shifts.. unfortunatley when people ring 999 someone has to be on the end of the phone :(

Ray - I presume you are getting paid to work for your dad? If not, find a way to get out before you jump off a bridge or something.

Just got back from the office. Need to go in tomorrow and we don't get monday off.

Don't get paid for it :( but i atually find it quite destressing. Can get far more done without people around and i normally do 6-12pm so it doesent mess up my weekend too much.

Also when it comes to booking time off i get preferance everytime.

I worked a shorter shift this week in preparation for covering this Saturday, in case we had clients come in. Got a call at 5pm yesterday and told we had no clients in so i didnt need to come in. 10hrs free pay, essentially (because i worked the shorter shift during the week) Woo :D

yep 8 out of 13 weekends, I can book 2 of those of as annual leave.
However we are very short staffed and until they hire some new people in. I'm rostered nearly every weekend. But then my manager has a very good give and take policy. So it works out nice for both of us.

Yeah I used to be a cook so working weekends, lates and bank holidays came with the job. It was poor unsociable hours but to be honest I loved it as I could lie in every morning after the heavy session of drinking we'd have until the early hours most nights.

Right now however, I don't have a day off at all, but this is a completely different type of job. So don't worry, some people have it even worse :D

I work Fri/Sat/Sun Nights!
The joys of ASDA...

Nights on the weekend are always the worst.. thinking where you could be.. out on the lash..

Sadly, the closest I get is sending Ambulances out there instead :D

All the time. Time off during the week, less general public on the streets to anger me.

Oh no, that would be disrespectful.

Some days when its really bad i actually look forward to the day he kicks the bucket, that is how much i hate him. He brings no joy to my life at all, only misery.

There are a few convenience and materialistic advantage of having him around but on an emotional level i get more fun out of my Xbox.

I'm sorry, but if your only defence of why you haven't told him to get ****ed and left is that it's a "cultural thing" then you really don't have any excuse to moan about it? I fail to see why you can't change things if you want to....
