Anyone excited for windows phone 7?

Got my Mozart through today....

Absolutely lovely peice of kit :) Build quality is as you would expect, fantastic. Think I'm most surprised at the 3.7" screen and how good it is compared to my HD2, a lot more vibrant.

The OS is also sublime, very slick, intuitive and a dream to use.

Problem I'm having so far is a severe lack of reception on the Orange network :( All coverage according to the checker should be excellent but barely managing a few bars. The guy on the phone said it normally takes around 24hours to get it up and running properly but surprised it's been so poor so far.

Gonna see how it develops over the weekend but should be well within my rights to cancel the deal if reception in my house is terrible.

Coverage maps are not even close to reliable.

You will have a difficult uphill battle trying to cancel the contract on that basis.

I am aware of that, I had orange previously, as short as 1 year ago in the same house and it was 3G and full bar, full bar with Vodafone too.

I'll be making my decision on Monday anyways....I suspect by tomorrow morning it will probably be ironed out tbh ;)

Within the 7days return time so we'll see how it pans out.

Just got my Omnia from tmobile. It seems fantastic, as far as I can tell they have not installed anything on it either (probably because they had all those software problems).

It is certainly a massive step up from my g1 running android 2.2.

Is T-Mobile signal any good in your area? Orange and T-Mobile customers can sign up for free to be allowed to roam onto the other carriers network should you have low signal.

Here is the URL for Orange customers to sign up if you are interested:

anyone know where the profiles are on the HTC 7? Need to know how to switch to silent mode

If it is the same as my Omnia (how much difference is there?) press a volume button, this brings a bar at the top of the screen which has the profile on it.

Sign up to the orange/t-mobile network sharing thing the t-mobile signal strength might be better where you are.

No issues for me so far with any downloads.

People are really impressed with it too. Not really had that before with windows phones :p

So far, its all going well. Will probably be doing a 1 week on hands on review soon in a couple of days!

If i have one small criticism, its the sensitivity of the keyboard, but then I have come from much less responsive ones previously. I think partly because I banana hands I can find it difficult to hit the correct buttons with my thumbs, but with fingers, im fine :)

The HD 7 has one of the best keyboards around, easily the best touch screen to type on imo (size certainly helps :))
The only thing I've found is occasional lag and certain keys become unresponsive for a few seconds. Editing takes getting used to, selecting the line above where your pointing is strange coming from ios/android.

Any word on turn by turn Sat nav yet?

Got my HD7 on Friday, certainly feels strange coming from WM 6.1 on my old Touch HD where you had to go through quite a few steps to get somewhere. Now it feels very basic and smooth, almost like there isn't anything to it.

I haven't had any lagging at all yet very impressed so far!

Do you find the keyboard overly sensitive or not enough?

Overly sensitive, but im getting used to it. Typing is getting quicker and quicker with less mistakes.

Like I said, its my blunt fingers that are causing me issues. My GF's delicate little pointy fingers are having no issues :D

In that case might get mine soon, if they just did'nt bother with the software

The only tmobile reference is a small logo on the box, tmobile logo on the battery cover (matches the Samsung logo but smaller) and the I.e. Search homepage.

To all who were posting suggestions to the T-Mobile thing I had signed everything up on the day I got it. :)

After 2 days though it would appear I now have full 3G/H network facility in my house now, thought it would just be a period of "bedding in".

Was in Glasgow at the Rangers match yesterday and got my first taste of "Orange T-Mobile" made the connection at half time for browzing a dream and I couldn't think of doing this on Vodafone, all season at half time I hadn't been on the net once.

As for this OS, my god is it a dream to work with! Finding it an absolute joy to use, there is literrally no lag whatsoever, the keyboard works great and the whole set up well....works!

The build quality on the mozart is great and I love how "cool" it feels when you pick it up due to the aluminium build. Very impressed with it and is a complete joy to use coming from the ever so sluggish HD2, definitely made the correct choice here I think :)

App store seems to be improving quickly from what I can see.
