Anyone fancy reading a script I wrote?

hello people, I entered the script into a BAFTA competition today. 3 winner placements get to go to New York TV Festival in September and meet loads of American TV producers and things.

I doubt I'll win but you never know, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who gave feedback, it all helped and what I didn't change I used in the season synopsis and character breakdowns I had to write for this entry form.

Cheers

Nice one - good luck with that!

^ I've donE a few tv jobs in the past so I'll see if I can get hold of some contacts for you.

Likewise, I be happy to give it a read and give you some feedback if you like. :)

alright Mike you never replied and your email wasn't in your trust, I just sent you a message asking to reply.

Did you get it mate?

submitted the script to a couple more places now, including this Industrial Scripts place where, if you purchase one of their script services, they'll grade your work and if it's good enough pass it on to a few different reputable agencies and producers.

Service got me 85 quid, who thinks I'm mental for that?

I'd say £85 is about right, really. It's roughly the amount I'd probably charge you for proof-reading and editing a script the size yours is and anyway, professional advice is priceless when you're starting out :D

I've got an 12,000 word piece that needs proof-reading *yikes*!

yeah I don't reckon 85 is that bad in the grand scheme of things. That doesn't mean it doesn't sting though.

Sent it this morning, I'm already absolutely bricking it. Completely doubting the entire thing now, not funny, doesn't make sense, poor writing.

I don't mind spending 85 quid if it's gonna come back with "yeah you're great, we've set up meetings all over town" which obviously isn't going to happen so if it's just "we didn't think much of this, might as well jack it in" then the 85 quid is gonna seem like it was never worth it.

I'd be happy to take a look if your still wanting people to read it :)

You can read it if you like mate but there's no email in your trust.

Bad luck.

Nevermind though. One thing is certain and that's that they will always need scripts!

Keep at it.

*You've also inspired me to write one now. :D

yeah, I am pretty gutted. I reckon though where we are now is another massive milestone where people jack it in, i.e. completed one full script and had no response.

Going to this BAFTA thing tonight in town and already got a couple more ideas.

Still have it out at other places but I thought I would've heard back from at least a couple by now, I put a self addressed stamped postcard in all the envelopes, just to acknowledge receipt, only ever got one back and that had 'no thanks' written on it.

The least they could do though is send it back, literally all they have to do is put it in their outgoing mail.

The woman from the BBC I met with hasn't replied yet either, she said she'd read it over the summer so really I'm gonna have to wait until the end of August before chasing her.

What's your script about mate? I encourage loads of people to write and then get dead nervous they're gonna be better at it than me.

I'm so insecure.
