Anyone find London a bit overwhelming?

In London for business at the moment and can’t wait to leave, I’ll go to a nice restaurant or two but otherwise stick to the hotels when I’m not attending work related stuff. I can’t put my finger on any specific dislikes, just not into it.

The new people are trash, the roads are trash, the quality of customer service is trash. Funny how much I saved since I stopped going out.

There are limited places to go late at night these days. I need a real 24 hour city, London isn’t that.

I really feel for people who are on a living wage or earning avg wage. I don’t know how they are able to live in London.

Don’t get me started on tax.
I know a lass who may be interested if you are looking for love ;)

We sometimes pay less to eat and drink in London, than we do to do the same in the South.

Stratford should always be avoided though.

I can raise you. This was a delivery in Park Royal a couple of months ago. I had to show my missus because she wouldn't believe me.

Everything in one picture. The smog in the air, the over crowdedness, the filth everywhere. That pile of rubbish has been there for months. The 25 minute journey time to go just 4 miles. The state of everything.

Everyone loves to think of the touristy bits etc but the vast majority of it is a dump like no other place I have visited in the country.

Do I find it overwhelming? No. I just feel disappointed as when I get on M1, A1 or M11 Northbound I instantly feel cleansed and you realise that London isn't even England anymore.

Manchester and Birmingham do not have the same effect on me that London does whilst both being also large cities.
Your outrage is very odd lol. Which bit of this photo is wrong? Cars being parked? How would you know the rubbish is months old?

Cheesefest is gonna have to be keen for a three way with you and MrWrong

I made the mistake of going to Hong Kong and Macau over the Tomb-Sweeping holiday in China. I have honestly never seen so many people.

I never knew lifts weigh themselves until I went to HK and assumed the number of people they said they could hold was overly ambitious.

Haven’t been for about five years, always found it absolutely exhausting and overwhelming. Enjoyed going to the various museums, art shows, restaurants and the like, but generally the place is far too busy for me. These days I have no real desire to go at all.

I know the rubbish has been there for months as it was there back in February when I last did a delivery there. Photo was taken end of April. It surprises me because I live in the countryside and it would have been picked up by the council and cleaned up a long time ago. Trash everywhere seems like it is acceptable in London.

I travel all over the country on a daily basis. I don't know what it is but I can go to Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool Middlesbrough, hell even Bradford and have a good day so it cannot be that I simply hate the city. One trip to London, everyone is miserable, everything is dirty and the air you can almost taste it. 1 hour to go a few miles. List goes on.

It depends on my mood these days, I'm a born and breed Londoner and I couldn't get enough of it when I was in my teens and in my twenties. Felt exciting and full of stuff to see and do. Now in my 40's I feel like I've seen and done everything and I don't find it exciting like a used to. But then again it's changed so much and so much has gone or closed. Back then it was Virgin Megastores and HMV, Torcodero with Alien War, and Sega World. The museums were fresh and interesting. Arcades were everywhere and Chinatown was amazing. The 90's and early 2000's central London was bloody awesome.

I miss the street vendors, selling either nuts or soft drinks for example, no idea why they are not there but i assume its some regulation or something.

If someone tells me i can get a cart and go central selling cans of soft drink, then i'd actually quit my job tomorrow and do this.

I find it exciting when I go there but always knackered when I get home. It is full on and quite stimulating but it is quite tiring and yes very expensive but there's also so much to do and explore. It's a melting hot pot of cultures, food and experiences.

That said I'm delighted not to live there !

I hate any major city to be honest. Anywhere where there are lots of people, background noise, hustle and bustle. It's sensory overload (due to autism) and I just shut down. Give me a nice big open peaceful field without a soul in sight any day.

Nope.
Heading there for work tomorrow for the day.
Love walking around London, and trying out different restaurants and indy shops.

This is likely obvious for some but not everyone. Most people who live in London don't typically go into central that regularly. Personally I live in a quiet leafy area in West London, have friends locally, visit local restaurants, shops, pubs etc. and travel into central for an occasional work meeting or event. I have everything on my doorstep if I want it and equally I can jump in the car and be in the countryside in 30mins. Yes it has it's grubby areas, equally there are ridiculously expensive areas with more wealth than 99% of the world but you can't tar the whole city with one brush as it's a essentially a collection of towns around a central hub. Some are ****, some are lovely.

Park Royal is an industrial estate. This is exactly the same as any other industrial estate anywhere in the country.

The vast majority of London is no better or worse than any big city anywhere in the world. I don't know what you expect from a big city that disappoints you so much?
