Anyone find London a bit overwhelming?

Then I suggest reading if you are not sure about the difference between facts and opinion.

I must be honest, it's very entertaining watching you make such a tit of yourself, over and over. You're effectively that bloke who just keeps walking in to the same wall repeatedly and expecting the wall to move.

Anyway, let's have a few facts then shall we?

Your first post is this:

London is a skip.

You then proceed to be the most prevalent poster in this thread, and not just by a little bit, but by more than double:

For someone who hates London so much, you really seem keen on talking about it, you're one step away from I used to hate London before hating London was cool.

And a post like that from you wouldn't surprise me at all tbh, given that you conduct yourself like a 13 year old.

Like I said, speak in absolutes, get spoken to in absolutes.

I do thoroughly enjoy our little back-and-forths though, you really make the downtime during gaming a lot more fun. Keep at it champ, I'm sure you'll outsmart someone one day :D

Maybe next time pick someone less petty and stubborn to try and outsmart though :p

it is a subjective statement and therefore not absolute. Now as I said go read some books. I dont think semantics is your strong point.
"is" a verb that connects the subject "London"
"a skip" is a predicate.

go away read a book. ( imperative sentence just in case ).

Oooooooh "read a book".

Epic burn, but still a bit of room for improvement. 7/10.

You really are quite spectacular in your efforts to offend me, you're that little chihuahua in the pet store that keeps barking at everyone and they're all "aaaaahhhh isn't he so cute, look at the angry little thing" :D

lol , some tired " to make it in life , but never did, while others have made it in life" ;) (observation statement). it must be really frustrating (indicative statement)

"Someone lives in a skip, and it's not me" . (declarative statement)
observation statement) +(indicative statement)+ (declarative statement) = complex statement... unfortunately, "above IQ level for some"

Work in London, Bishopsgate.

Pre-Pandemic, Liverpool St station and surrounds were bonkers. 100% agree with earlier posts that since the Pandemic it's quieter!

Khan introduced (empty) cycle lanes and pedestrian walkways, albeit it's much more pleasant to walk along Threadneedle etc.

The greatest danger in London? It's not mugging! Getting mowed down by a cyclist/scooter rider running a red light.

Went for a walk in Richmond today, what a hell hole/dump. Just the worst.

How long did it take you to get there and even in that picture it looks way too overcrowded. No to mention to live around there you need to be a millionaire which is unobtainable to the vast majority of Londoners. This is where I went after I finished work today on the bike. 2 mins from my house. After an 8 minute drive returning from work. 10 minutes total from leaving my job to this scenery. Not a soul in the distance and available to everyone. How I like it.

It is cute when City dwellers refer to "greenery"

I work in central and live a leafy bit of inner London. Really love being in London. Lots of interesting work opportunities and fun things to do. I’ve travelled around a lot and it’s definitely in the top 3 cities in the world.

Haven’t been for about five years, always found it absolutely exhausting and overwhelming. Enjoyed going to the various museums, art shows, restaurants and the like, but generally the place is far too busy for me. These days I have no real desire to go at all.

I've never been to a restaurant in London. I'd probably have a heart attack from the bill.
I do want to go to Kew Gardens at some point. But I'll want to be straight out after!

No amount of money would make me live in London.

I find it funny that London gets so much hate. It’s just because people actually see it, passing through, people actually visit and every nice area borders a not-so-nice area. Typical of a big city.

Yet I’m on a trip up north to see my other half’s parents. Decided to stop over at an unnamed Yorkshire seaside resort and my god it’s a ****hole. Most of the residents sound like they’ve smoked 40 a day for the better part of their lifetime and they haven’t eaten anything green for the last twenty years. People just shuffle around with their dogs, looking half dead between them. There was literally 3 decent looking restaurants (in a big town), the pubs look dodgy AF, there was two police vans called to a hostel round the corner from where we were staying on the first evening (a nice B and B actually, no complaints there) and 99% of the old Victorian houses look like crack dens that are totally falling apart. What a shame. If people actually went to the rough parts of random poor towns in the uk they’d be utterly shocked. The only reason London gets so much hate is because it’s actually visible.

Too many people for me. I know there are nice parts. But still too many people.

My main issues with London.
-too busy
-too expensive
-too polluted
-too far from the sea

Yep, I completely despise going. Yes it's culturally rich, full of history and often times very beautiful, but I just can't stand it. I always feel completely shut in whenever I'm there. It's always so busy, it stinks and the noise is just too much.

I'm a country bumpkin at heart though. On the rare occasions me and my partner fancy a City break it's either Liverpool or Manchester, mostly because we feel we know them better. I imagine that if City breaks were you're thing then London would be up there.

Knocking London as being anything is meaningless because it's so diverse across the city. Where I work... step outside my office and you'll see sky scrapers among other large scale buildings and offices giving a feeling of money flowing, people out on lunch breaks with their overpriced pret lunches, good investment into pedestrianised walk ways and eating areas, clean, a balance of types of people but typically office workers. Very much an office worker vibe, rather than local residents. Walk half a mile down the road and you'll find a strip club, a market, a larger proportion of ethnic minority groups, rougher, dirtier, busier but in a different way, more locals, more aggressive people, more dangerous. Keep walking some more and you'll get to a nice park and heavily modernised train station next to decaying buildings which contrast it.

Single day visitors don't really get a true reflection of what London can be. I would say even I don't as someone that has worked central for a decade+. I only see a fraction of what London is. It also scales such a large amount of land and suburbs it really depends on what you define as London. Most people are referring to central where they go to Picadilly/Oxford circus for the shops yo. That's just one bit.

It's like how people think that New York is JUST Manhattan.
